My main point is that for the money a roof top rack seems far more desirable and offers greater flexibility, and these window racks aren't far off the price of a rack or cargo basket.
Finding an appropriate way to mount and fully utilize this window rack to get 35lbs of gear to each panel seems challenging (and unlikely), and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of real estate. Since it is a panel anything attached has to be relatively flush; meaning it can't be anything overly bulky or it is going to jut out into the general cargo area and make things awkward.
You'll be losing lots of space; the space between the rack and the window is lost (when the truck is really packed I've tossed soft thing into that space so many times...sleeping bag, sack of dirty clothes) and you lose space from things that jut into the cargo area (crates can't be stacked on top of each other and perhaps have to be pushed in more).
So I guess I don't see the utility; $120 to store little doodads that can otherwise go into an inexpensive pouch (that can also stay dry in the 4runner, and that you can then grab and go, and be placed in different areas both inside and outside of the 4runner in a moments notice) doesn't makes sense to me. You can buy a whole lot of storage crates and bags for $120 that will probably offer greater packing flexibility and organization.
For example in the photo in this thread the guy has some recovery gear on the rack; a little bag to carry that stuff in makes more sense to me since you can grab the bag with all the gear, head out and get to work instead taking it off the rack...and then putting it into a bag.
