Cooper Discoverer AT3 285/70/17....Anyone?

Wondering if jumping to a 285/70/17 will fill a wheel well with 2" lift all the way around. Can't find these tires around. Want to put these on the 4R but feel like the 275/70/17's will be too small.

Anyone have the AT3 285/70/17's? I'm sure I'll receive some criticism for putting a 285/70 AT3, but It's really the best tire for my use.

Looks like this guy installed them and had no issues running those tires with a stock setup at first. If you look at the pics post lift there's definitely no rubbing.

I had a set of these on my Tacoma and they were the best tires I ever ran. I almost bought a set again for the T4R but wanted something a bit more aggressive.

Also, Pep Boys was doing a clearance sale on the LT AT3 a few weeks ago. I think total price for 4 was around $760 out the door.

This guy did install them with no lift, but I only drove about 20 miles like that from the tire dealer to the Toyota dealership to have my OME lift installed. I've done a bunch of full flex wheeling since and never had a issue. But would I run them an extended time without a lift, no... Also I purchased the ATP NOT AT3 the ATP offers a bit more aggressive tread pattern.
 
Running the 275s on son's 4th great tire , however when I buy again like [MENTION=11062]Fly[/MENTION]in fuzz gonna try atp or the st maxx . Only reason have bridgestones is my guy couldn't get em on short notice & I wasn't going to roll on 20 rockstars & nitto desert whatever were on there .
 
I have a set of 285/70/17's on my 4runner with no lift. Minimal rubbing, only when the suspension compresses to a certain point in the front. Happens maybe once every 2 weeks. I also did the front wheel well liner mod.

Putting the lift on next week to remedy the problem.
 
I have the ATP 285/70 on mine. Even at a 2.5" lift in the front it would rub at full lock on the mud flaps. After my alignment and getting as much positive caster it rubbed on the front bumper bottom corners. I had to push the fender lining forward and dremel off material from the bumper corners to reduce rubbing. Even after shaving off a good amount of the bumper I would occasionally get rub with load and going up/down steep angles. The + caster will do this as it increases your wheel base but it tracks straight at low and high speeds and under heavy breaking.

Nice looking rig. Mind posting a head-on photo, of the stance width? I'm likely getting this same tire/rim combo in October. Did you go with the -10 or 0 offset wheel?
 
I'm running stock size cooper AT3s on a 3" front/2" rear lift. If I'm backing up with full lock to the left my driver's side front tire will run enough to hear. Not enough to change anything, though. Never had any other issues and I fully flex it when I go out.
Tore a hole in the sidewall of that same tire today. At least I got to use the hi-lift, though!
 
I saw these tires on the pep boys web site, but could barely find any real information about them...

thanks guys for giving the goods on them. They are my plan B tire, in stock sizing, for my non-mod'd 2014...if i cant find some Mich M/S2s at a better price.

Offset is 0. Don't have any head on pictures but these are close enough. Though I have never tried the AT3's I have nothing but praise for the ATPs. They are great in dirt, gravel, rain, and snow. I have not tried them in mud though. My buddies vouch for the ATPs as well.

I was all excited about this because that's the tire I've settled on, but I went to the Pep Boys web site and couldn't find a Discoverer AT3. I searched for the term and got a couple of hits, but clicking on them led to broken links. I even called my local shop and he couldn't get them. He could get the HT3, or they had the Adventurer AT for $720 installed and OTD, but no AT3

Then I did a little research and found out that the Adventurer AT is basically an E-Rated LT version of the Discoverer AT3 made specifically for Pep Boys. So I called Pep Boys back to ask if I could get a C-rated version. Then she said that none of their warehouses had this particular tire in stock (C or E), and she didn't know if they would ever get any more. She also said she still couldn't get the AT3's.

So back to looking. :hunter:
 
I'm really interested in the new ATW for my next street tire set, but I'm at least a year or so away from being due. It appears they are the same tire as the ATP only with more siping. To me that's a big benefit.
