:hand: Pump the brakes.... I have to STRONGLY disagree with you on this one... My AT/3s are top tier. handle great, take rain great, off road great. they are quiet and have tons of traction at a very comfortable 40 psi.
Fleet mechanics are not putting at/3s on their fleet vehicles. they put tires that are designed for industry, E rating, highway tires, or commercial service vehicle type tire. General Grabber is another great tire for off road, guy I worked with threw a set on his hand-me-down CRV, god it was hilarious to see him cruising on the easier stuff at the OHV Park........ so I am just not seeing the evidence that either Cooper or General have a bad rep... Facts before you sling something like that.
Every company has a terrible tire or two(Cooper use to be known as the budget brand), whether it is their budget brand or a tire that is straight awful, but the title of this thread is Discoverer AT3 Review and you targeted Cooper and General going off of what "every fleet mechanic" has said to you. :mad2: You're not reviewing the tire, nor are you providing anything constructive, Do YOU have any experience with Cooper AT3 or the General Grabber AT2???? :flame::flame::flame::flame:
I would challenge one of these "mechanics" to get approval to put AT/3s or GGAT2s on their fleet vehicles. There is no way they would get approval for this. It is not economical, they wouldn't last and they straight up are not designed for that application. So, this brings me to how does this even apply to the AT3 or GGAT2???
In comparison. my bfg Ats(not the 2s) were god awful. hard as rocks (35 psi), picked up every rock I ran over and handled very poor in the snow/ice, they did not clean themselves worth crap. they became so hard packed with snow and ice chunks it was almost as they were bald. I did have balancing issues with my BFGs, this was multiplied by the fact my UBJ was looser than a broken N64 Controller. frankly the compound is really designed for gravel roads and desert, which they were very beastly on the trails. Cooper At/3s have more and deeper a siping, the groove pattern is more parallel to the tire and this is designed to keep the tire tracking straight in snow/water. Compare the BFGs, they almost have no parallel design to their groove. I would say BFG slightly superior trail qualities, I think they well fair better dealing with trail damage than the coopers, but cooper has superior road manors, especially freeway manors. my BFGs... well did whatever the hell they wanted to do haha, cruise to the left for alittle, now maybe to the right, definitely a product of worn suspension parts and the tires. after I rebuilt the front end, I had only a marginal gain until I put new meats on. But I think that was just because there was no saving the BFGs once the damage was done...
Had to special order mine from Americas Tire when I lived in California. The tire jockeys there threw a few compliments toward these tires when they were throwing them on. They keep BFG ATS in stock all in my common size, 31/10.5/15, but he says he gets roughly the same amount of orders for the Coopers as the BFG, they just do not stock them for some reason or another. He thought they were a great tire, has a set on his taco.
For the record I do agree with you on the Eagles . I have eagle f1s on my miata, and those are smoking tires. Mine are about dead, cracking after 4 years, and they still have close to 40% left on them. My other set, before they changed the tread pattern went just about 4 as well
