I just got my 285/75-16's today and measured them up. Brand new, unmounted, they are 32" by 10". That is to say they are barely 32" Maybe 31.9" or so. And 10" wide measuring the bulge, not the tread. That's closer to a 265/75 than a true 285/75.

I'm not sure if I want to return them, or just run them until I get my 4.88's, but I was definitely disappointed :/ Might be good news for someone looking for a bigger tire with minimal lift though.

Huh, that seems odd. Not to assume youre ignorant or anything, but how much air pressure are you running?
 
I think after you mount them you will be around 32.8 or so I would say if I has to say my are maybe a bit less then 32 just eye balling it in the drive way with 32psi in the tires
 
They were off the rim. I went ahead and mounted them today. If I measure now, I assume the number will only be smaller due to tire deflection.

I will say the improvement in ride over my bridgestones was immediately apparent. Even my wife noticed from the passenger seat.

You should measure them and let us know. Im curious to know the size now that theyre monuted and inflated as Im still considering them myself. Do you have any shots of them on the truck?

Man they look great with the lift! If I did not have to put a kayak on top I would lift mine. I need to get some recent pics up. Mine has gone thru a lot since the avatar.
 
I went out on my first wheeling trip with the new tires today. They did just fine. I aired down to 18psi and they were all about 15psi after a couple hours of abuse... not sure what's the deal with that. But all in all, they performed fine... no traction related problems and I only switched on the locker once.
 
Has anyone purchased the 'P'-passenger discoverer AT3, vs. the 'LT'-light truck model. The LT I believe is a 6 ply 'C' rated tire.

I'm looking for on/off-road, highway, wet/dry traction, carrying full loaded, etc examples and opinions.

I'm considering the Cooper Discoverer's in either the 245/75/16 or the 235/85/16, however, the 235/85/16 only comes in an 'E' rated 10-ply tire, and I'm wondering if that would be too stiff/harsh of a ride.

The 245/75/16 comes in the mentioned 'P' and 'LT' versions.

And if it makes any difference, I just installed Bilstein HD's all the way around with my 1999 Ltd talls.

I typically don't off-road too often, but I do load my truck up with a bunch of camping and mtn. bike gear and take it to the mountains. If a heavier rated tire means it'll hold up better on gravel roads with some moderate off-roading, that might be my decision....if it means less chance of having to change a flat on a trail.

Anyways, let's hear some real world input.

If you wheel it a lot on rocks and stuff I would get LT but if you only ride fire roads get the P and you will have a crazy stiff ride with E loaded tires.

Anyone else running the Cooper Discoverer At/3's that can comment on them?
 
I have the AT3s in 265/75/16. I have put about 10K miles on them. So far I am really impressed with them in about every condition BUT sticky mud. They have great road manners, very quiet, they are wearing evenly. Offroad traction is average for an all-terrain type tire. Overall I am impressed, but I will probably go with something a bit more aggressive next time.

Cooper Tires

I built these tires in the Texarkana Ar. plant for 16 years...they are good tires on and off road...Cooper builds quality OEM equivalent tires adhering to close tolerances in the build process...they also build a number of other brands...same tire just different name on the side because it went into a different mold...but the same tire...I use the Arizonian brand which is built by Cooper also and sold thru the Discount Tire stores...hope this helped...
 
I didn't see anything with an AT tread pattern at Arizonian's website and nothing by Arizonian at discounttiredirect.com, got a link?
 
I have about 20k on my AT3's (265/70/16). I have P rated. In hindsight I should have gone LT as I am pushing the tires a bit over rocks, etc. No punctures so far and I have never had a problem with them.

So far, very even wearing, quiet on road, decent grip off road, though I've never driven M/T's or a more aggressive tire.

Very happy with them so far. A well made tire.
 
I've been running them on the street for the past 7 months. Only a few gravel roads. No complaints here. I've always had great results from all Cooper Tires.

Discount encouraged me to go with this over the Terra Grappler. Over quality and warranty was better with Cooper.

Unless you are running over a lot of rocks, I can't see going with the weight of an LT for daily and mild trail use.
