Cooper Discoverer ATP 265 75 16

I have the AT3s (265/75 load range C (LT tire)) and they are great. I have 17k miles on them and they still look new - more tread left than most AT tires start with. They have gotten good reviews. Australian 4WD (if I remember correctly) recently tested them on a test track and said they perform better than BFG ATs (grip, wet, snow, inclines, etc.), and worked much better than expected in mud. They are quiet on the road, ride smooth, balance well, and work well for me off-road (but then again I am not a 'mudder' but more of an overlander).

I bought them last fall from a farm store - 4 for the price of 3 - $650 plus tax out the door.

those look to be almost the same size (height obviously) as my 265/75R16LT Sigma Mud terrain Radials - odd just might be due to a n a/t to a m/t

I measured my 285/75-16 up against my buddies 265/75-16 duratracs and they were almost the same size. I think for whatever reason, cooper just undersized the 285 version of the ATP. *shrugs*

go figure, but either way the cooper's are a good tire, can bet they're alot quieter than mine, lol.

I measured my 285/75-16 up against my buddies 265/75-16 duratracs and they were almost the same size. I think for whatever reason, cooper just undersized the 285 version of the ATP. *shrugs*

I would send cooper an email and get the specs for your tires. You might be able to get them exchanged under warranty due to craftsmanship if your tires specs dont match up.

I have absolutely no experience with situations like this however. Just thinking out loud. Also, I do notice sometimes that tire sizes can vary from manufacture to manufacture. It could be a combination of the coopers running small in 285/75 and the Goodyears running tall for 267/75.

I have a set of the Cooper ATPs 265/75/16. Ran me $690 otd but i also got the tire warrenty on all 4. Grip good and ride pretty nice. Does have a lil tire hum to them on dry pavement but doesnt bother me. I do wish the sidewall was more beefy and aggressive but i originally wanted the hankooks atm's but they were out and i needed to put tires on asap. I'de buy them again.

Can anyone else comment on the ride quality of P vs LT vs E tires. I`d really like to go with 235-85-16`s on my truck, but am worried about the ride quality of a 10-ply tire, since 90% of my driving is city.

I would just go with the P they will ride a lot better and will not weight as much so it will save on the MPGs I am going to put a set of E rates LTs on my z71 because I tow a lot with it and I only drive it when towing some the MPG suck anyways.

1) How well do they do on rocks and in soft sand (sand dune type stuff)?

2) I've heard they are pretty quiet. Has that been a common experience? I've currently got MT's so I'm sure they will be quieter.

3) I'm also thinking about Duratrac's but I like having a fatter wallet. Anyone had both that want to compare?

1. I was just in Amelia Island, FL... Driving on the beaches there.... Was in 2wd the whole time so these tires were pretty good

3. I had the duratacs but on a wrangler.... I actually like the ATPs better as an all around tire....but they're two completely different vehicles so keep that in mind

The ATP's are pretty quiet, at least at mostly full tread. I would not consider them a noisy tire at all.

ATP vs. Duratrac: If you do not drive in the snow, the ATPs are a perfectly suitable replacement for the Duratracs. They do not have the sidewall bling that the duratracs have, but in terms of function and practicality, they are on par, IMO. If you drive in snow regularly, the Duratrac is far superior in that regard.

I ordered a set of these last week through discount tire (along with an awesome set of wheels) and am getting them installed on Saturday. Im going from discoverer HTs to these. I had already read the reviews on discount, but its good to see the high opinions confirmed here on the forum.

im switching to these (a) because my HTs have almost 50k miles on them, and are badly cupped due to the past four years of lifts and shotty alignments. And (b) because I wanted something a little better for these Wisconsin winters.

Can anyone here give some good info on how these tires function in snow compared to others?

Here's a pic of mine after more than 40k (sorry, kind of hard to see the tread wear):

Got them in January of '12. Now, given that I got them siped when I bought them (I would personally recommend having that done), they handle excellent in snow, mud, and all sort of slippery conditions. I would guess that they are not quite near half their life span yet. Still tons of tread left in them.

first i'll come out and say that i haven't had duratracs so i can't make a direct comparison, but...
my atps have been great on the snow.
they're quiet and have been great off road - moab, co mtns, etc. no troubles.
looks like i'll get 40k out of mine before replacement.

I've had a set of "P" 275/70r17 AT'3 on my 04 V8 limited 4runner.

Been on there for about a year, 10k miles or so. We have road tripped them, daily driven them, driven on NC beaches and wheeled WVA,PA, and western Virginia shale and rock trails. Not even a scratch or gouge and very even wear.

Great Tire. I recommend them to anyone interested in such a tire.

I just got a 99 that is going to get a set of 285 Cooper S/T's

I also have the AT3's on mine. I believe they are very similar to the ATP's.
Quiet, with great traction and road handling characteristics.
They don't carry the mountain snowflake, but they have an excellent reputation in the snow nevertheless.
I am finding them so good for winter driving, so far, that I have not bothered to switch 'em out for my winter rims with Hakkapeiitta's.
