I am so torn but don't feel I can make a wrong decision. Price is the same. Coopers are E-rated only which may hurt my mileage more but gas is paid by work. I am 90% highway, the rest are rock/gravel/muddy ranch roads in Texas (no crazy mountain rocks like you guys that off-road all the time). Being that I don't pull anything and drive a 4Runner, would I, in theory, get more miles out of properly rotated E tires vs D? Share thoughts, opinions, experiences.

Coopers are going to have a tougher sidewall. Duratracs a little lighter and more siping. Given that you're in Texas and don't pay for gas and probably won't be encountering much snow, I'd say Coopers.
Oh, and I run Duratracs and my tire decision came down to the exact same 2 tires. But I see a good deal of snow and pay for gas so the weight savings and siping pushed me to the GYs.

If you're not opposed to "pizza cutters", which they're not really, the st maxx is coming out with a new tire soon:
255/75/17 but in a C rating. not as heavy as the E. Seems like a perfect tire for our trucks. That's what I'm waiting for. Treaddepot.com shows them, but as out of stock.
I emailed them a few weeks ago and they said it was because they haven't come out yet, but would in 3-5 weeks.

I also e-mailed Cooper tires a couple weeks ago about this exact tire regarding a release date but I still haven't heard anything back.

I made a post about these same two tires not too long ago. I had decided on the Duratracs but now that Cooper is coming out with the ST Maxx in 255/75/17 in a C I will be going with those.
