So I pulled the trigger and purchased a set of ST Maxx's. 275/70R17. If you are on the fence about these, hop off it and get a set. I was back and forth on these or some BFG K02's. I expected some road noise. However, I was amazed at how quiet they are at speed (75/80). For an E rated tire they ride incredibly smooth and quiet. Aside from some heavier pot holes and such I can hardly tell the difference between these and the factory Bridgestones that were replaced. You do experience a little wander, very slight, because of the large rubber blocks you're rolling on. But I've experienced much worse on other tires like these. Overall, I was expecting much worse and was prepared to be ok with it given the purpose of these tires. I can sincerely say I was very surprised at how well these tires behave. I'm not saying anything new as I have read a lot of what I'm posting from others, but I certainly concur with the other reviews posted.
If you like the way these look, don't hesitate and pick up a set. Especially if you get in on the EBay deals on them right now.

Does anyone have actual height measurements of a 255/75 17?

I still see that Cooper lists these as being smaller than the stock 265/70s, which is odd. But the 255/80s measure about .5" taller than their listed heights, so maybe they just messed up on the 255s?

I'm looking to get a slightly taller, narrower tire. The 255/75s can be had cheap, the 255/80s are quite a bit more of a leap and more costly.

For anyone curious, here is update:

- From another forum, they measured their worn 255/75s at around 31" actual, mounted height.
- I measured my nearly new stock Dunlops (~2300 miles) at or just under 30.5", mounted and on the vehicle.
- I emailed Cooper with the question and received the following response:

These numbers are based on the actual calculation.

255/75R17 =32.05
265/70R17 = 31.60"

On '15 TE wheels, no rubbing at all

I have 5100s all around (fronts at + 2.5") and Daystar 1.5" rear spacers. Factory TE wheels (no spacers) and the 255/80R17 fit perfectly.

These tires look awesome! Love the look even on a stock 4runner. The 255/70/17's seem to be the right fit for stock or leveled truck. Can't wait to get a pair but the stock tires seem to just be lasting forever!

Awesome pic! I was in Mystic a few months ago and loved it there I also really like the 255/80's on my 4th gen.

I have not noticed any performance difference.

They are definitely firmer. I'm fiddling with pressure. Currently at 41psi.

I love the stance and the feel. It is different from stock and may not appeal to you if you want a "car-like" feel.

Honestly barely noticed the difference from stock size Duelers. If anything, they ride nicer at speed. Your mileage may vary.
Running currently at 42psi, but I'll do a chalk test to see if that's best. I'm guessing it will be just fine.
