Do I need longer shocks with the 3/2 lift or is it really as simple as installing the spacers? Does anyone top-out their shocks when wheeling or articulating off things? I have an 03 limited with xreas I think.

while i am very familiar with the search feature of forums, I am not doing a great job finding the info I think I don't have.

I know he had Cornfed Spacers 2/1 then 3/2, now he replaced them w/

The 3/2 is MUCH more annoying offroad than the 2/1, but will do fine for city driving, and no you do not need longer coils, it sits on top of the coilover setup, between the coilover and the metal housing.

Hey there. In regards to the annoyance of the 3/2 off road, what was causing it. I will be doing some light wheeling and maybe camping off road. Should I plan on getting the 2/1

I off road with HB 4x4 and the past few times we went he was running the 3/2 and I was running the 2/1 and when we rode along with each other the 3/2 was MUCH stiffer than my 2/1 and he got punished pretty hard over some bumpy sections, it is amazing how much of a difference it can make.

That being said, we are thinking about putting his old 3/2 on in place of my 2/1 and see how it feels, so if we do, I will keep you updated.
 
I have a 3/2 and you can definately hear (and feel) the rear shocks top out when coming down off steep rocks/ledges.
Not enough rebound damping to hold back the spring + spacer when it gets unloaded quickly, combined with short travel.

I still prefer more clearance and less clunking on rocks even if I have to deal with shock clunks.
 
Both responses are correct. I am very anal about things regarding my truck, and to put it in short, I was willing to spend around $1500 to get a whole new suspension because of how the 3/2 did offroad. Whenever in Blair's truck, I could notice the difference within about 5 seconds, especially when going over the whoops in the desert. Going over small stiff obstacles with a steep drop off, such as rocks, even speed bumps, the back comes down with a huge *thunk* sound and was very annoying. Unless you want to fit 285's I would go with a 2/1, or go all out with an OME or Coilover setup.

On road, differences are minimal. Off road, the 2/1 and 3/2 are night and day. The 3/2 is insanely stiffer/rougher.

That, and the fact that Blair's truck felt better than mine, and I just couldn't accept that. We have ongoing battles to out-do the other, so I went and spent $1500 on that one. :bigok:

i just put the cornfed on and the orig shocks are fine,


i do have one issue though i cant get the original front roll bar back on. any one else run ino this?

Roll bar? Do you mean sway bar?
