Cornfed vs. Toytec

I am looking at doing the FJ Spring swap and a leveling lift - have XREAS and want to keep it. Goal is to level it out just a bit along with the springs.
I see the the cornfed 1" (1/2" spacer) and the toytec 3/4" folks are using. What are the differences between the 2?

OK that is an answer I guess.

The toytec says 3/4" lift - not how thick it is. I know I have seen discussions on actual lift vs. what listed being different. If it is 3/4" think that would suggest an actual front 1.5" lift and that is more than I want. I know folks have used a 1/2" toytec spacer that gives 1" of lift. Is that it above (but listed as 3/4") or is it another kit?

So I guess my questions boil down to what is the actual thickness of the toytec? and what are the differences between the 2 (pros/cons)?

Also are there other options for a 1/2" spacer that yields about 1" of front lift?

Hi the cornfed is 1/2" thick and will give you 1" net lift and the Toytec is 3/8" thick and will give you 3/4" net lift. Toytec also has a 1/4" thick one that will give you a 1/2" net lift. Hope that helps.

There is no difference. The Toytec spacer is 1/2" thick as well (I physically measure mine, I'm not going by manufacturers claims). Cornfed seems to be one of the only companies that will list accurate lift amounts. Toytec agrees there is more lift than spacer thickness, but they say it's not quite 2:1. I have the Toytec spacer and FJ springs, total lift was 1.5". I say save money and go with the Toytec, I haven't found any reason not to.

Yes it can be a bit confusing. But your a setup like your rig is pretty much what I am shooting for Thanks!

I love my setup, and wouldn't change it. However, I have the rear air bags and can not do the rear FJ springs. I'd definitely advise them, and that'll raise the rear a little. It depends on what you want, the FJ springs and 1/2" thick spacer will give you a level stance looking at the fender wells, but the running boards may be slightly slanted (high in the front). You can go with a setup like 8086bruce has and do the FJ springs and 1/2" thick Toytec spacer. He seems happy with that, very level (running boards). One of the two would be my suggestion, it just depends on what you consider "level".

I agree with Ark_swamp_rider if you want you (boards)to be level then do the 1/4 thick but if you wnt the wheel openings to be more level then go with the 1/2 thick spacers. The more I look at mine I think i was to focused on the boards being level and at some point I may switch to the thicker toytec spacer and if need be add alittle more air to my airbags.

That's a good point. If you plan on air bags for towing, you may go ahead and do the 1/2" thick spacer. Otherwise, do the 1/4" thick one because once loaded it'll be slightly lower in the rear. I have the factory air bags, so sag wasn't a concern, but for those with the standard suspesions it's definitely something to consider.

I have an Airlift 1000 and was planning to put that in as well at the same time. I decided to hold off on that until I can score the FJ springs.
I don't have the factory air leveler option, so I am planning to go with the 4 FJ springs and a small front spacer and keep the XREAS for now.
I also need to get rid of the factory duncraps, so I want to do all the suspension stuff before that so I can get it aligned...

Hmm.. Now after seeing 8086bruce's rig I am leaning towards the 1/4" (1/2" lift). I don't want it nose up - leveling the nerf bars is enough.
Those 1/4" spacers are sold separately and say for evening the driver's side. Is it necessary to get add a second spacer on the drivers side (for 3 total) to level it as well? or is that not necessary.
I haven't seen uneven driver and pass sides mentioned elsewhere, unless the front FJ springs were put on the wrong sides :lookout:

Some rigs have a lean, others don't. You can measure each side to see. Mine was less than 1/8" difference, so I didn't worry with it. The 1/4" spacer is meant to correct lean when adding the 1/2" thick spacer. The battery and gas tank are on the driver side (plus driver weight) causing lean. It just works out that the 1/4" spacer makes a nice level kit for our rigs combined with the FJ springs. The FJ springs are different right vs left, just make sure you get those right and you'll be fine.

I think the stiffer fj springs really help the drivers side lean mine was about a 1/4" lower before and now after it is a 1/16th higher than the pass. side with out me sitting in it.
