Could the alarm have caused this?

About 2 weeks ago, I got a Viper Security/Remote Start system installed. The

night I got my truck back, I noticed a very low-pitched, fast-paced clicking

noise when accelerating. It seems like I hear it on every acceleration and the

higher the RPM, the louder the noise. I only hear it when I'm driving, however,

when idling, something sounds a little different. Today, I discovered that the

alarm system does not work as it should (allows me to arm the truck when

doors open without notification). I called the installer and he said it could be

caused by a loose wire. I'm thinking something like this may be causing the

clicking noise I'm hearing. Any other ideas of what this could be?

• noise is low pitched
• heard on left(drivers) side while inside the truck
• no power loss, no dash lights lit

could be a relay, also what sensors did the installer include? i know that tilt sensor and glass sensor do it when they are bad.

also he might forgot to use a diode in the ground when arm line, there is a back feed that why you are hearing alot of clicking, might need a diode to all the sensors.

Possible but the entire alarm system was purchased new. It did require the bypass to be installed. I am getting the alarm fixed to see if that will stop the noise. I want to get the alarm fixed before taking it to the dealer.

Over the years, I've installed probably 40-50 Vipers. I'll say that it really can be anything. The door zone doesn't sound like it was hooked up correctly if you aren't getting a second chirp when arming with the door open. I'd have the installer or another installer check all the wiring.

yeah I called him and he said when he tested it it worked and that perhaps a wire came loose. Right now, he's figuring out how to program the back window function on the Viper remote before bringing me in so he can do it all at once.

u need to use an aux cheannel and tell him to program it to send a constant ground atleast 5 seconds, then tap it to the lock and unlock wire on the tailgate ecu. look what thread i have started, u can see the wires that was use to mimick a key in the back to operate.

im think its a loose connections, do u see alot of t tap connectors? also i suggest the installer should use diodes in the correct direction.

well, i had the problem resolved today. the wires were not secured which was causing the clicking noise. and as for the problems with the alarm itself, it just needed a factory reset as programming the remote screwed it up somehow. thanks.
