Courtesy lights

I want to install some courtesy lights . But I want them to come on when I unlock the car. I saw some people were saying to use the dome lights to wire them up. But the only things is that they will only come on when I open the door. Does anyone knows or done this mod . Thx for help

Just a thought. How about wiring a relay to the dome circuit and put a toggle switch on your dash to them. That way you can have them come on with the dome switches or you can power the relay by a switch too. Gives you the best of both worlds.
