Backstory here
I have a knock sensor issue and I'm going to try to do it myself. I'm not a Master Mechanic but like to tinker on things. I've watched a few YouTube videos (that makes me an expert, right?? :rockon: ) and I think I can pull it off.
My question: What else should I do while I tear it down? This is not a DD but I don't want it to sit for months either. Ideally, a couple of weekends would be perfect. I found a timing belt/tensioner/water pump kit and think I will do that as well. Should I have the heads done? Block/pistons?? I don't know any machinists in my area so would need to research that if that's what's needed. It definitely has a small oil leak somewhere that I'll need to address, hoping that's valve covers or something cheap/easy.
Any comments on www.yotashop.com? Seemed to have reasonable prices on OEM/Aisin parts.
220k miles on the truck & bought it for $2k; really don't want to put another $2k in it but don't want to cheap-out either.
