***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

I just purchased a 2003 4Runner V8.Beautiful condition from Virginia.
4runner came up here to Michigan a few years ago.Anyways
The dash was cracked and through this forum I found out about the replacement program. Now I am on the list for a new dash replacement.
I expect a call within the next few weeks.
Gotta love this forums and the Internet.
Also they said no on the loaner car

Just and update for anyone interested:

Mine was ordered December 15, 2015. It went into the dealer on Friday September 2, 2016 (full date for archive's sake).

I don't recall ever getting the second letter, but my dealer back then was willing to check it out and put the order in anyway. Also got a free rental car for now. Not sure if that is part of the thing, but I can't imagine they'd be giving it to me if Toyota wasn't reimbursing them for it. Germain Toyota in Naples, Florida.

Yes! I've been on the list for a new dashboard since the middle of Dec, 2015, and the day has finally arrived! My dash was replaced today as well as the brake pedal (brake pedal recall).

Since I've done quite a few mods I decided to uninstall my headunit along with some of the other items. I also left the trim panels off afterwards as it would be senseless to reinstall them, just to have to have them removed again by the installer. I thought this would be more convenient for the installer as well.

When I picked up my runner, there was a note from Cole, the installer thanking me for doing so. He also reprogrammed the keyless system for one push, instead of two, free of charge!

I ran my vin on the link on the first page but no recall exists for my vehicle. Does that mean I'm not eligible?

IIRC, it's not technically a recall, more of a voluntary thing. Just go to a dealer service dept., mention the action request, and they'll should know what you're talking about.

Just had my new dashboard installed today (9/14/2016). Initial dealer visit took place on 8/25/2016 so it was just under 3 weeks from initial inspection to installation. My dealer called me a couple days ago to say they had the part available. They had it on order for someone else who was in line ahead of me but apparently that individual recently sold their truck so I was next up to get it.

My dealer is Tustin Toyota in Tustin, CA.

Edit - the internal invoice said the part cost was $899.

Holy Crap!!!! Got a call yesterday from my local Toyota dealer stating that my new dashboard had finally come in! Considering that they had done the inspection and ordered the part LAST OCTOBER, I had nearly given up hope. I'm not sure if the rest of you are having an 11 month wait, but better late than never, I suppose. It's at the dealer being installed as I type this. Nice!

Mine was the same timeline. No more cracks

You guys are lucky! Been waiting since June 2015. Not sure what happened, but the dealership ended up reordering one for me in April of this year. I'm hoping by Christmas.

I finally had to email Toyota customer care yesterday, I went in almost a year ago to get my name on the list right when the claim started, February or March of this year I was called to get my dash. I didn't get a rental car in fact I had to call my boss to come pick me up so I could get back to work, not two hours later I'm called to come pick my runner up I thought well damn that was fast. So I had to get my boss to drive me back, I get there only to be told that they had received a sienna van dash instead of the 4runner dash for me and I would get the next available dash that fit my vehicle. Ok what ever I work for a Toyota Forklift dealer so I understood it happens. Jump to the beginning of this month I have a coworker with a IDENTICAL 4runner, he did his claim a month after me, he came in and says the same dealership I'm dealing with put his new dash in last week, well that made me just a little pissed, so I call them and the service rep. tells me a fire destroyed the machine making the dashes and that's why it was taking so long, and they hadn't installed one in months and hadn't received any new ones in months. All right I stayed calm I'd had enough so I sent my email to Toyota direct customer care. now they are involved and have informed me that they would deal with the dealer in my place, don't know if that's good or bad. Hopefully none of you are going through this run around like I am.

I'm on the list, Evidentally I'm 3rd on the list from this month at my dealership, stated around 10 months plus the time for them to be able to order it once I get to that level as they ordered thier max for the month etc. Anyway it's scheduled for 12 months from now but will let me know if it comes in early:)

Was super easy, in and out in around 5 mins:)

My dash finally got replaced last week after a year of waiting. More than that if you add the original owner waiting 3 months before I bought bought it. But I'm happy Toyota is doing this for customers. No other manufacture would even think about doing this.

Just got off the phone with Toyota. She said they didn't have an estimate on when my dealer would have a replacement for me.

I've been on the list since Sept. When I was there in Dec the service advisor put in a ticket for it but then said they didn't have stock. :(

So, after a year, I have my dash in. Took them 8 hours. It's a different dash than was previously installed. I now have the center speaker. Also, I need to take it back because I have lights out.

Stopped into the dealer today to have them start the claim they say they'll have someone call me - he calls and says they'll need the vehicle for 4-5 hours??? Is that normal ?
