Yes are local Matco dealer had a few jackets like this except I think they were Makita brand. Use them around the shop and hunting in early fall. Really cool idea, but damn they are expensive!

Unless you live in the artic you really don't need a heated jacket- Craftsman is swindling their customers by selling an electric jacket with damn near zero insulation and no shell, so any wind will cut right through that sucker and you will lose any heat generated by those heat pads almost immediately. I think people need a little more education on how to layer properly, and what does and does not constitute proper insulation. Hint: Under Armour Heat Gear(and any compression shirt advertised to keep you warm) is total garbage. So is any 'technology' companies put into their proprietary materials. All marketing gimmicks, and totally unproven in real world scenarios.

This is basically all you need for your core on a -20F day: polypropylene or wool base layer, either a synthetic or down puffy midlayer, and a nice large quilt lined carhartt with duck canvas shell. Make sure your layers are a little baggy: dead space, dead space, and more dead space for the air to warm to body temp between layers. Maybe eat a little breakfast to get your metabolic heat pumping, and you are good to go.

Heated jackets in general are a gimmick, good insulation however is not. It just happens to be overpriced. Under Armour makes a lot of good stuff thats not too overly priced like maybe... *cough* Arcteryx *cough*

I used to work in a freezer occasionally, including a -20 one and used a Milwaukee 12v heated jacket under my coveralls and it was totally worth it.

Under Armour not overpriced? They are priced around the same as Arc'teryx but perform well under them. Bahahaha.

I could see using this as a layer under my winter jacket with 2 layers in it also :)

Putting this under a proper outer layer makes much more sense(not like the guy in their photos who is using it as a standalone piece). But then if you are doing any sort of strenuous activity you are gonna start sweating your ass off in a hurry and that's BAD news if you are anywhere remote.

Is anyone in this thread looking for good insulating midlayers? Steep and Cheap has killer deals on top brands all the time. Definitely worth checking out

They're priced well under Arcteryx. The cheapest thing Arcteryx makes is like $200 and performs just as well as a $50 jacket. All of my UA stuff has faired far better than my Arcteryx stuff. Insulation and durability wise. But I use my stuff hard and if it rips the first trip out just from cutting firewood then there's a problem. YMMV though, that's just my experiences with both companies.

Yes but Chris Costa wears Arcteryx so that will instantly make you Operator as f*ck.

Range But their are more pockets in the UA jackets for clipazines and your Glock brand Glock

I wouldn't wear a cotton and fleece hoodie to do anything but walk to the store when its under 50F. If that sucker gets wet at all you're gonna be miserable. and a slim fit? Thats all fashion and zero functionality.

i wear one every day on the rail road as a layer, functions great for me - in fact i think its the best sweat shirt I've ever owned.

Well I'm not gonna lie, that's surprising, but if it works for you I got no problemo with that! Your job is probably tough as hell too so I'm sure you know your way around good work clothes.
