CRAPPOLA, broke a front bump stop bolt

I got a little too excited while swapping out the front bump stops with Wheeler bump stops and broke off one of the mounting bolt. I'm not looking forward to drilling out this bolt head since it lives inside a cavity.

Let me know what creativity some of y'all have come up with to remedy this situation.

Following purely for amusement, sorry lol. Although now I think about it, I have some rear bump stop extensions I need to drill a bolt out of. Dang.

I wonder if you could follow the same protocol as drilling/tapping the front skid plate bolts out to M10 hardware?

Both of mine snapped off, for the meantime Im using generic ones in some holes I found to the rear of the LCA. They work, but meh.

I've pretty much done away with all the frame mounted threads at this point and use rivet nuts. You can get a tool and some stainless metric rivet nuts off Amazon for not a whole lot of money. You'll need a drill 3mm bigger than the bolt diameter. So if its a 8mm diameter bolt, you need an 11mm drill bit

When I need to get rid of the frame mounted nuts , i like to heat it up with my torch and then blop it with my air hammer. If it's not available, a good coue whacks with a drift punch ought to do the trick.

I have all rivnut tools but drilling out this broken bolt is a royal PITA due to its location. I'm not sure which way I'll go but I'll post up pics after I'm done.

Definitely gonna have to move the LCA out the way. At least remove from spindle, loosen cam bolts and swing down.

I watched a video the other day of someone using a small torx bit to extract a bolt. Drilled a hole a smidge smaller than the bit, then hammered in the bit and took it slow. I am sure much heat and penetrating oil was involved. Good luck.

OP, how did it go?

3rd gen here but have similar bump stop problem.

I bought new Perry Parts bump stops BUT 2 of the front bump stops just spin. Really sucks bc the LCArms are Toyota and bought new about 2 years ago. The OP of this thread never followed up with what he did but seems I am going to have to get a thin blade for reciprocating saw and cut the stops off. I hate to risk scoring into the LCA. Then I have to figure out mounting for the new bump stops. I'm STOKED on discovering rivet nuts in this thread! Looks =possible= that I might be able to install riven nut without having to drop the LCArm IF the existing hole is big enough for the rivet nut.
Anyway, I WAS able to remove 2 of the front bump stops and replace w upgraded ones but passenger is front and driver is rear bump stop. Better than nothing or only 1 side!
