Thanks for the compliments. Scott sure does some nice work.
For the Hellas, I didn't see a reason to sell them with the pickup to just turn around and buy new ones to put on this one. I had them mounted in the same spot on the addicted front I had on the pickup.
I saved the 100W Hella 500's, 100W Micro DE's, Winch and synthetic line, Blue Sea fuse block and 90 amp circuit breaker, Rock lights, LED dome light, wilson 5000 CB antenna and Cobra WX75, all the wiring harnesses and relays for the lights, red LED panels that will be installed in the 3rd brake light housing, etc.
Anything that I could have used on this project I saved. No sense in getting pennies on the dollar including all of it with the sale just to turn around and pay retail again for the same thing.
If you know anyone interested in a Wilson 5000 roof mount CB Antenna with Coax, spread the word. The firestick 2 fit the build better so no reason to keep the Wilson.

Yup. Just need to pull it out of the 06. May start working on that tonight too. Will need to pull the rear quarter inner panels to find a good place to mount the upper tie down points. Will be pulling the D-ring mounts out of the 06 and finding a way to get them mounted up on the metal skin behind the plastic panel.
I know there are some that have installed a center mount too for the sides, but I found that you can strap it to where the seat backs lock in to place.
Its nice knowing I already have alot of what this build will consist of hahaha.

RBN 4Runner Gen 2 Barrier net $119.99
Keep the groceries in the back and out of your lap. Fits 4 door 4 runner w/ non-removable top. Uses 1" 10 year UV resistant w/ new stainless steel rings and military self tensioned buckles. Please check your vehicle; some year models without upper shoulder mounted seatbelt points may require our FLC mounting points, available under net accessories page.
Didn't want to have to worry about when I have the seats folded down. and stuff flying forward.
We will see how it fits in the 3rd gen. It says for non removable top 4 door runners. Doesn't seem to be year specific with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Sounds good. I'm hoping it works too. If not I will be putting it back in the 06 and looking for one for the 97. All of my storage cases are waterproof aluminum military field cases so the last thing I want is to have one of those fly into the back of my head if something were to happen.

Well Pismo showed me that there were still quite a few area where the tires showed some lovin to my fenders and flairs....
So without further adue... Here goes phase 2 of project tire clearance.
I have always wondered how 3rd and 4th gen guys can get away with achieving more tire clearance for oversized tires. The flairs were always the limiting factor. Sure you have coverage from water and mud being splashed up but it didn't leave any ability to really gain a cut out style flair for stuffing lower offset, wider, larger tires. Since Bushwacker has not been any help for us 3rd and 4th gen guys, I figured it was time to put my thinking cap on...
With the newly aquired 97 limited, and the future plans for it involving much larger tires, I knew that I needed to figure out a way to gain more tire clearance up front while hopefully not needing to go glass to do it.
The first couple trips out, I found that the tire rubbing on the rear of the flair was causing the clips that are holding the top of the flair to work their way loose. I started looking at thinking about how I would be able to maybe get those clips out of the way for something more solid.
Here is what I came up with. Lets see how it works out.
First I pulled the flairs off the front fenders.
Next up I taped off the body line that was visible under where the flair would lay. This kept about 3/4" distance from the holes for the clips.
From there I took an angle grinder, and trimmed along the tapes edge.
That left me with a nice clean line that will be hidden under the flair.
And a couple shots without the tape to show how it compares.
From there I took the flairs and taped off the cut line just past the bottom lip to hold some rigidity after the cut. I will have some pictures of them tomorrow.
Here are a couple pictures of progress from tonight.
Kind of hard to see with it being dark out but you can start to get the idea of the clearance that has been gained so far.

All the while it will look factory when complete.

Progress has been made on the fenders last night but I didn't get a chance to snap any pictures.
I was able to get the bolts epoxied into the original clip holes on the flairs.
I used 3/4" long 1/4x28 bolts. On the back side of the fender sheet metal will be a standard 1/4" washer with nylock nut. One thing I found is that the only clip hole that didn't line up was the front one so a 1/4" hole will have to be drilled for that one. The other one that I can't really do anything about other than maybe a zip tie.... is the lowest one at the rear. It should be fine without anything as there is a bolt coming up through the bottom of the flair by the rocker that holds it tight.
I will have some pictures when I get home today when its light out. So far I think things will work out great and provide the room I need. If it wasn't for the lack of firewall tubbing yet, I think I could get 35's to fit in the fenders no problem.

So I was able to get the flairs mounted today after work. Lovin the extra clearance and should be able to keep the front from rubbing for the most part except for full lock on the firewall and frame which im ok with.

awesome. Window will be replaced sunday and Hoping to get the steering rack bushings done at the same time along with the rear diff extended breather. Need to see the where I can mount the filter up top. Hopefully I can find a good location.
Will need to start looking in to the trans cooler install as well.
Other than that, just little clearance and touch ups and it should be good to go for a while.

So I left for lunch today at work, and when I came back, the only spot left was next to my old pickup. I had to grab a couple shots. Sometimes I miss it....

Finally got the sliders welded up on Friday. They are no longer sitting on the side of my house like they have been for about 2 1/2 years haha.
4 mounting legs all landing on plated frame.
These are Demello Offroad 06 4runner full round tube DIY sliders mounted on the 97. I think they fit better as they protect under the fender flairs too instead of stopping before the flair.
Anyways enjoy the pictures.

Kept them inline with the edge of the flairs.

Went on a quick Hollister run today with Drew and a couple other 3rd gen guys.
Had a blast and surprised myself on some of the obstacles I was able to do. Still have to get the rear locker working though. A couple of the trails I was still denied on... :ybrick:
