Thanks for the tip Ride. I have used the halogen versions of those in the past on my pickup and they work fairly well.
Need to get something back there soon though.

Already picked up the quick connects. Just some two wire trailer plugs. Easy enough.

I only used one, and mounted it all ghetto like with just some outdoor 3M double sided tape directly the license plate itself, and its stayed there somehow over all this time... Not the best, but it does alright for lighting it up. My only downside is that it is the "cool blue" LED color, as I prefer the natural warm/halogen coloring

Ok. I was going to be swaping out my license plate lights with LED anyways so the white light doesn't bother me. Looks like I might want two of them if I want the plate to be fully illuminated.
Found them for $10.95 each. Just placed the order. Should be here next week.

Looking good! I like how low the tire sits. It makes it so your rear window isn't completely useless lol.
A couple thoughts. You definitely want to make sure that your latching system is as beefy as possible. It really sucks when the latch breaks out on the trail, and you're stuck figuring out how to get the whole swingout and tire into your 4runner so you can drive out. Ask me how I know haha.
I ended up moving away from a latch type system to a more simple system:
That's just a regular trailer hitch locking pin in there. It would probably drive some people crazy to have to unlock it everytime you open the rear hatch, but I don't mind. You wouldn't have to use a locking one, of course.
And you could always use a hood lift support, or something similar, to keep the swingout from opening all the way, and to help hold it open. Here's mine:

The height works out great with being able to still see something out of the rear view. Any ledge would hit the hitch before anything with the carrier.
The heims are pretty stout and offer good resistance with pivoting thus far. I would like to consider a gas strut though to help it out. Any7 also suggested to just use a limit strap to keep it from flying all the way open. just a shorty 4-6". Working through a few options right now. Just need to see what will fit where i need it to.
I figure if I get the upper stop in there, the only load that should be on the latch is compression. There shouldn't be any shock loading happening due to there not being any movement at all with the carrier. I already have a pad lock on the latch so security is taken care of. If this one ever breaks I will probably opt for the stainless steel one option for a more finished and hopefully stronger system. (If this one ever fails which is probably pretty slim as I don't know of anyone that has broken one of these Southco latches)
I wouldn't have to pull the whole system just because of a latch breakage. I have ratchet straps for that. The heims will not break due to them being in double sheer and 7/8 x 3/4 heims and 3/4" bolts are very stout. My carrier would rip apart before the swing hardware broke.
Next week it should be more complete with all the finishing touches that need to happen. It will be welded to the frame completely so I will have even less movement than I have currently.

Yo sorry I was rushing to the shop this morning. I see what you mean by having the tub recessed into the stinger. The tub looked a bit out of place, I figured you were putting it there temporarily. The plate Any7 made works great! Looks badass with that beadlocked spare!

Thanks Rob. They are actually making another plate so the LED lamps have a place to mount once they arrive. Getting it painted up tomorrow at the BAMF wrench day. Should have everything back together tomorrow afternoon for some pictures. Think im gonna try to get my sub back in the runner and bolted down so Any7 can make the offset brackets for the cargo cover mounts next week.

I think that would look best, I was going to mention the swing out but i wasnt sure how you would tie together the sides near the heims. It would certainly add some more structural rigidity to the whole package.

I can just have them add a single verticle tube maybe 6" off the sides to butt the plate up too. Wouldn't be hard at all.

Just dropped the runner back off at Any7.
They are going to plate the outer two openings on the carrier. (The center one is not visible with the tire on so no need for the extra weight and expense.)
The side openings will be getting plated as well by the fender wells.
Along with that, there are a few things left to do.
- Adding a stop for the swing out. (Still trying to figure the cleanest and easiest way to get that done)
- Additional post and slot above the latch to hold it even more secure.
- Making another license backing plate to include mounting for the lights I picked up.
- Once the bumper is painted again, (Maybe really quick after work so we can just finalize everything today) weld the side legs to the frame and stitch the bumper mounts to the frame to make it solid.
Another thing that is getting added is they are making offset brackets for the cargo cover to get it up higher to cover my sub. Probably raising the mounts to just above the back of the seat. Roughly 12-13" under the cover.
I'm holding off on the link mount reinforcements for the time being along with having the diff guard welded on. That can happen after the honeymoon as I wont be wheeling again till at least October.

For the license plate light I just got a cheap LED strip from pep boys and wired it up. Works perfect. Should be able to do something similar with yours.
And bumper is looking good. I say leave it as is and don't plate it.

But found another link for 10.95 each. They are fully sealed and should mount nice and solid.
The plate should look good. Just thinking like 14g dimpled. won't be much weight but should add torsional resistance even though it is already pretty solid.
Also forgot to add that they are adding a couple mounts for my Ham and CB antennas.
Thanks for the compliment on the bumper. Its getting there but i'm super happy with it so far.
Any no, I am still single Todd for another week. Wedding is next Friday on the 23rd. Honeymoon starts on the 1st.
Batchelor party should be this Saturday. Pretty low key as both of my groomsmen are out of town.... :twitch: My brother is my best man and he is taking me out. Maybe a few people will be there but not completely sure what he has planned.
