"creaking" noise in my passenger rear area...just bought my 4Runner today! Help

Hello all! I am the proud owner of a 06' Sport 4X4 V8 (black). While driving it home this evening, I noticed a "creaking" sound from the rear passenger area. It happens when I make a turn or go over a bump, but not on the interstate or going straight. It seems like its near the passenger wheel well area. Does anyone know what this creaking noise is? And, is there a TSB or fix for this problem that I can do. It is really annoying and I only have 50 miles on it so far. Please help!

Well, since nobody replied to my thread, I did a search and found that evidently electrical tape fixes the problem. YEYYYY!:awais:

Dont know how to post a link, but I did a search for "rear passenger noise" and found numerous threads about this "creaking sound". Evidently, there is a TSB out on it and all the dealership does is tighten and lubricate the latches that the rear seat backs connect too. You and I need to simply add some electrical tape to the latches and maybe lubrication (jelly/grease). Everyone seems to agree that this solved the problem and no more noise.....which is refreshing because I just bought my truck today and I thought that there was something really wrong. But, just tape it and lubricate it and problem solved. let me know how it goes.

Welcome, you may want to check the latching mechanism for the rear passenger side fold-down seat. Just lower the seat and give it a good solid pull back to latch.

Just a quick note...I put the electrical tape on the latch for the "rear passenger noise" and it worked like a charm. No more noise and very quiet. I went ahead and put the tape on both latches for the rear seat. For those who have the rear passenger noise, the electrical tape is a perfect fix

No problem! I am so glad it wasnt something more serious. by the way, dont put the electrical tape on thick, or the rear seat back wont latch completely. I had to take a knife and cut my first layer of tape off and did it again with only 1 layer of tape. The seat latches fine and more importantly, NO NOISE:awais:

Just got back from a short road trip this weekend. I taped up the latches as suggested by paulnohio and the noise is completely gone!!!
Another problem solved...thanks again paulnohio.
