Cruise Control acting up

I have an odd issue that I have never encountered nor heard of. Anytime I have a surge while driving I suspect the transmission because of its age (319K). Though this time I’m fairly certain it isn’t the transmission but something else. I have a 2002 4Runner 4wd V6 automatic transmission. When the cruise control is set I noticed it surge up (like when it is climbing a interstate overpass) every time I hit a rough patch in the road, then out of the blue with no patches in the road what so ever. This is consistent at speeds from 35-70 mph.
Variables are the vehicle has 319k so a wear item is likely, I’m using a Superlift Speed calibrator though it has been issue free since its installation in 2007. That leaves the abs sensors which I suspect because they abs light bounced off and on all last week for no particular reason. The speed gear in the t-case as I understand they wear over time, or perhaps the cruise control control unit.

Thoughts?

Thats a good question, and I'm really not sure. It didn't down shift as much as it throttled up, oh and the speedo jumped around a bit. Really strange behavior come to think of it. Now when driving with CC off it didnt do any of this nonsense.

Perhaps it isn't the cruise control at all by a sensor that causes it to freak out. Question is what sensor would cause such a reaction, ABS wheel sensor, Speed sensor in t-case, ? I did notice coming home tonight it only reacted when hitting a dip in the road at 55-75mph that caused the truck to jar.

Now the speedo and odometer are not responding. I'm guessing this is a bad speed sensor.

Heads up, it wasn't a ABS sensor, or a SPEED sensor. It was a refurbished alternator. What crap 21k is all it lasted, got a free replacement but seriously considering a OE alternator.

The speedo and odometer were acting funny an nit acting at all, but it started when the truck would hit a bump and the cruise control was engaged, the truck would accelerate to compensate for the the bump that actually didn't slow the vehicle.

3 days later I notice on my Garmin 276C the voltage was 11.3 (monitors system voltage) instead of the normal 14-13.7. The. The battery light started flashing indicating a problem with the charging system.
