Instead of the diodes, have you considered just using a SPDT switch for complete isolation? Flip the switch one way and the reverse wire and headunit are connected; flip it the other way and the accessory wire and headunit are connected.

This is what I did on my OEM backup camera on my 5th gen, for anytime backup camera activation

Depends on how you wire it, lol. You'd basically just be interrupting the wire that signals the camera to come on, and then selecting between the two signals (reverse or accessory).

What do you wire these wires up to if you do not have a power antenna? I maybe misunderstand what you are saying here. I had some wires that were labeled power antenna and I did not use these. The antenna cables were coaxial and there were two them. I bought the converter for the smaller cable and the adapter to make the two one but did not notice an improvement in reception.

You shouldn't need one. When I replaced my stereo last May there was only one antenna wire.

My guess is that both of the in-glass antennae go to an amplifier and then a single cable goes to the stereo.

Mine works fine on both AM and FM with the single cable.

all this wiring im am doing is making my head go boom
sucks i just finished building my taco and totalled it now i have to start over
errrr
think i am sticking with my way....
i did it this way on my tacoma and it worked fine for years and very simple for the simple minded "me"
plus i already have everything here.....
i hope i can get some done this weekend.....
