Cruzado's IDGAF build thread

So the gears are in and the truck is back together finally. 10/10 gears are worth the cost, if only i had the cash to pay for them in full but whatever.

new OEM lower control arms, even with shop cost still cost me an arm and a leg, but after having to do warranty work on a truck at work that has had 2 brands of aftermarket LCAs both with craptacular bushings in them OEM is the only way to go. So shiny and new.

They even have the japanese customs tags on them still

Those nitro 4.56s look sweet. especially compared to what's left of the OEM gears....

overall gears are probably the best thing ive done to my 4th gen. drives so much better now, and will hopefully help me tow my 4runner with my 4runner cause i like 4runners so much.

Dare I ask how much they were and the install for them were.. my truck is at the shop now for what I believe is bad lca bushings..

well with my 30% shop discount they were 275 each. i installed them myself, so parts alone was pretty much 600 bucks, for a normal off the street person or if the shop is to buy them you'd pay list for the part or about 380 each. if you want someone else to install them for you its anywhere from a 4 to 8 hour job depending if your alignment cams are rusted into the arms or not. so going by the normal labor rate of anywhere between 80 and 100 dollars an hour it could be anywhere from 320 to 800 in labor to do them. so all said and done probably around 1100 to 1600 bucks all said and done

yeah it ain't cheap. but it makes a huge difference. have you had your truck aligned anytime recently? if so it should mean you alignment cams aren't frozen into the arms and can be reused and cut out a ton of install time. Also when you have the new ones installed have them anit sieze the crap out of the cams and bushing sleeves so it won't rust into the new arms, and repeat the process of applying anti seize every 6 months to a year as general maintenance.

and also heres a little help on the overall cost. toyota of dallas pretty much gives you shop cost on parts if you order them online from them. huge help before i worked for a shop. FRONT SUSPENSION for 2004 Toyota 4Runner

the part numbers are 48068-60010 and 48069-60010 for the control arms right and left. and 48198-60011, 48452-35020, 48190-60020, 48409-60020 are the alignment cam part numbers if you need them. should shave a few hundred off the bill.

Wow thats a huge help man I appreciate it.. Yeah I had my truck aligned about a year ago.. I helped with the alignment.. took a little bit of muscle but once the cams started moving it really wasnt too bad.. so they should be ok hopefully

What cv axles are these: Oem, aftermarket? Wondering as all the threads I've come across say the aftermarket are crap. I'll be doing a boot job on the wife's 06 t4r next weekend unless I get time tomorrow but having a spare would be nice for future problems or when it gets taken to the trails.

Pretty sure they're Oreillys CV's. Looks like the Import Direct brand.

I'm interested in knowing what brand he went with too. I have the same UCA's based on his threads and some other people that abused these for a long time. I don't wheel anything harder than medano pass in CO.

they are NAPAs in house brand new manufacture CVs with their HD boots. i was hesitant to put them in originally a couple years ago but i love them. last just as long as my OEM shafts did for 1/3 the price. i beat the piss out of these things on 35s and never had an issue with them for the 2.5 years the first set were in my truck, new ones are just as good to me.

Thank you. I feel like NAPA seems to be a preferred choice over the other autozone/oreilly's options on almost everything else too.
