Current data version for NAV DVD?

Does anybody know what data version the current data is on the 4Runner NAV system? Mine says 3.2 and the dealer says it is the "current" version, though I have my doubts.

One thing I've always wondered-- are the mapping/data DVDs the same between all the Toyota navigation systems? In other words, when an update comes out for the Camry navigation system, will it work on a 4Runner navi?? I don't see why they wouldn't be the same, but I wouldn't be too surpised if they are not...

I know the dealer (owner) pretty well and he told me that the Lexus ver 4.1 (which I'd seen on eBay), for example, is NOT compatible with the T4R version of the NAV system. It seems pretty wierd that they would use different versions of the software that requires different data DVD's for different divisions of the same company, but stranger things have happened, I guess.

Well, that makes sense to me, especially considering that the "Toyota" screen comes up every time you start the vehicle. I'm sure there are other differences as well, even if the system works 99% the same.

Yeah, I think that also probably lets them charge more for the T4R version than the Camry, and way more for the Lexus version than the T4R, no doubt. Gotta know your target market, as they say.

I've tried the 4.1 version in the camry nav, and also in a lexus es330, and its both worked fine, ive never had a opportunity to try it on a T4R navigation yet....

I was told if its a one piece nav, regardless toyota or lexus it will work. I've tried it and seems to work fine...

I tried the 4.1 version of the Camry Nav DVD and it doesn't work on my 2003 4Runner. Can anyone tell me what the part number for that 4.1 Nav update is? i got one off ebay but it didn't work in my 4Runner and the dealer will not give me any info. Thanks for the help.

The 4Runner comes with the older Gen3 Toyota Nav system and therefor it uses a different data disc (or at least it can not take the newer discs.) The Camary/Solara/Prius/Landcrusier/Lexus nav systems are all Gen4. I can't figure out why Toyota hasn't started shipping the new nav system in the 4Runner/Seinna
