Curse you HVAC backlights.

So I pulled off my cluster yesterday to replace my fan backlight and realized that I had the wrong bulb. So I put it back in and now the middle one is out. Damn it!

And why are the backlights out but my arrows of what's on still light up?

Consider yourself lucky, I found out all my lights were out because the circuit board had fried.

The backlights are a bulb and the arrows are LEDs soldered to the board. LEDs have very long life and low failure rate compared to the bulbs so they don't tend to burn out.

If you want to replace the backlights with LED you can. They're mostly NEO3 bulbs with NEO4's behind the LCD display. There's a bunch of threads on changing these out if you search.

I hear ya. I was like WTF? It worked when I took it out and now when I put it back in it doesn't work. I never even touched the middle one!

I apparently don't know my left from my right. Took my unit out tonight and the directional control backlight was working but for some reason I took it out and replaced it with the good bulb. Now the bulb, which was working, will not work at all but the new bulb works in all three. So luckily when I picked up the new bulb today I also ordered three more. Will be here Saturday. I am replacing all of them at once.
