Had this box built by a guy in Arlington, TX. Rhino lined and accent painted to match the body. The sound is amazing and it is often mistaken for MUCH larger speakers. I highly recommend this guy for anyone wanting a custom enclosure.

That's a great looking box! (I know, I know, "that's what he said") But seriously, very meticulous in the details and the finished product looks outstanding. Where did you mount the amp?

Amp Location

I used an ARC Audio mini 500.1 amp and a Audio Control LC2i line converter and mounted them both under the center of the 2nd row seats. The amp has amazing power and is only like 11" x 5" x 1.7" I tapped the LC2i in at the factory JBL sub and it worked perfect. Installed the control knob for the LC2i in one of the blanks on the dashboard so it looks factory too. Since I have the third row, I wanted the box easliy removable. I mounted a terminal block in the rear trim and ran the speaker wires under the carpet and behind the trim to it. I then made a short lead with bannana plugs on both ends to "plug in" the box when it is installed. I flipped up the factory cargo tabs and ran 1/4" x 20 body bolts with fender washers through them and into the box to secure it in place while in use. Turns out it not only keeps it from sliding around, but it also spaces it back properly so the rear seats still recline. Got lucky there.

Pic Quality

Sorry the pics are a little weak. I took them with my phone. They don't do it justice. Check out the video link. His pics are much better.

heh.. i'm so tempted to do something like that to the truck, too..
The whole point of me getting the truck was to have more trunk space, though.. :\
damn it.. so tempting../

The reason for getting the SUV and getting rid of my truck was cause I needed the rear room. Gotta carry all my crap for races. The stock bass if good, but coming from a 12" Type R its nothing. Considered a JL W6 a few days ago but It's going to wait.

Setup looks great by the way. Whats it hit at on the SPL?

Spl

Not sure what it hits on the SPL, but I can tell you that it is hard to sit in it with it turned all the way up. I was showing a friend of mine and it hit so hard that my Escort radar broke in half off the rear-view mirror mount and fell into pieces on the dash. Hits as hard or harder than systems I have had with 10's and 12's.

JS,

Very clean set up. Couple of questions for you:

1. How much for the box / speakers?
2. Who did the amp install?

I am in Houston and can drive up to Arlington to pick up the box.

Regards,
Richard

Box Price/Install

I paid $345 for the box but that included freight to my front door. I live in Conroe and kinda figured that it would cost me more to drive than freight. Don't quote me on this, but I think that the shipping added about $60 to the price so the box would have been under $300 had I picked it up (I think). Well worth every penny. The box is amazing and is getting everything out of the 8's. The speakers I got for right at $100/ea at Car Stereo Outlet on I45/Beltway8 (281-847-2700). Call and ask for John. He will hook you up. That is as good of a price as you can fiind on E-bay. As for the amp install, I did that myself. It was relatively easy though. Would be happy to walk ya through it. Otherwise, they can do something for you on the install at Car Stereo Outlet as well.
