Custom Gauge Faces

I ordered some custom gauge faces from Black Cat Customs. I first contacted them in July and finally yesterday they finished them. It took awhile because they had never done a 4runner so they had to get a cluster and draw everything up. They had great customer service though. The faces should be here in about ten days and I'll post more pictures when I get them installed. I have white LEDs in the dash so all the lines will glow white and I had him put blue tinting behind all the numbers and letters so those will glow blue at night. All the warning lights are tinted blue too. Here is a picture of what they are gonna look like:

cool keep this thread going, i maybe interested in buying this as well once i see a complete install, i like the trd in the center but may have chosen a different color scheme, are they willing to do different colors?

also we need a link to the site and a price they hooked you up with, really cool idea and like that you came up with your own idea and followed through with it, good job man!

Yeah the site is blackcatcustom.com. And they weren't cheap so I'm really hoping they are great quality. They were 189. And yeah they will pretty much do anything you like. I just wanted to keep mine simple. The faces are 119. The custom work was 45. And then I wanted the rectangular faces for the warning lights to be done too so those were 25.

Yeah I had contacted them too but they didn't have them for 98's. Their prices are little more reasonable but I think they put their conpany logo on the faces. And don't have as much customization if you're looking for something kind of crazy.

Those look really cool. I would have made the TRD red though.

Definitely want to see pics of it installed. They look very sharp.

Finally got the gauge faces in the mail yesterday and installed them today. The quality is great. The blue doesn't quite glow as blue as I had hoped but I think that it can be fixed with the same kind of thing that gottabetrd was using to change the color of the clocks.

And then with the lights on...

The picture does kinda dull the blue and red even more than they actually are. The white is overpowering the picture. and my truck isn't overheating, I just didnt put the needle on right the first time. I had to pull the needle off again and let it warm up and then put it back on in the middle.

And I had posted another thread about the PRND2L lights, because the green LEDs there are kind of killing the blue lights. These are what the LEDs in there look like. If anyone has ever seen LEDs that shape for sale then let me know but I think I'll just have to put a colored film in front of them to make them look blue.

Is it really bright at night? I don't want something shining in my face while I'm driving. Does the dimmer knob work for these?

It's not as bright as the picture makes it seem. they were taken with my iPhone so quality not that great. But yeah the dimmer switch works with the LEDs.

very sweet. i like it a lot overall. i was actually searching my japan connects hoping there was a trd gauge face just the other day. To no avail. But there is this!

If the colors can be changed a bit to peoples likeings i think this could be a great item!

Ive been meaning to get on here and say something. Those gauges look great man! let me know if you want some blue filters for those green lights in your dash Check out Oznium.come for those bulbs for your shifter. I'm sure they have something in there that will work.

I am old school, and really like my green lighting in my dash... Is there any way that I could keep my stock looking lights, but somehow make that TRD red...?

That might be a little harder. Because the Trd could be tinted red on the back but with the green lights in the back it wouldn't probably glow a nice red. Im not sure how the insides of the 99' and up clusters look but it doesn't seem to hard to just hook up a couple small red LEDs behind the Trd logo itself. I'm putting some blue ones behind my trd logo because the old style odometer blocks alot of the light to that area so the trd logo comes out with weird looking shades of light.
