CV Axel Rubber keeps cracking

I went through two CV axel's in the past 1-2 years. One only lasted a year before the grease starting spraying out of the boot. Is this a common issue? Anyone know what can be done to fix these crapping "rubber" boots that are filled with grease?

I have remanned OEM's with Toyota boots from CVJ that I installed 6 years ago and they are in perfect shape still with over 100,000 miles on them.

Are the ribs rubbing when driving in a straight line? Or is it from UV degradation? If the ribs are rubbing eachother you could massage the boot a little or extend the clamp possibly.

With the vehicle sitting on level ground, get under there and look at the axle angle at the inboard joint leaving the differential. Sagging suspension will have the axles angled upward significantly where they leave the tulip joint, causing the inboard rubber boot to rub against itself. The friction and abrasive dirt will cause the boot to fail more quickly than one operated at normal geometry, with spacing between the boot bellows.

If you have any notable lift, the bellows can touch.

Another thing to add. When you part your car for the day make sure your wheels are straight. Less stress on the boots.

My dealer will only sell a complete inner and outer boot set and i think he said 170 bucks. I just need the outside one.

Is there a better brand of aftermarket boot?

OEM boots will last far, far longer than a year. Aftermarket? Who knows... A boot kit from the parts counter should NOT be over 100, not even over 50. I think my kit was about 30.

The part number you posted is an old part number that has been superseded have you tried to get the parts using an updated part number, the part number in the post you quoted is the correct up to date part number , which is..... Boot Kit - Toyota (04427-60141), just an FYI the old part number you posted is missing a number the first 5 numbers should be 04438, what you posted is missing the 0 as the first number.

Yeah my OEM boots are in perfect condition after 100,000. The inner joint went out before those boots.

You might find some bad OEMs with good boots.

Thanks for your quick replay. Unfortunately I had to return 04427-60141 boot kit as it wouldn't fit my CV axle.Please refer to photos I have attached. My axle is apparently used in some 2002-2004 years models. My inner joint is fully rounded and boot shape inside diameter as well.The new superseded part /boot is triangle concave shape inside and is 1 cm smaller.

Thanks for help but this boot does not fit axle due to internal shape. My is just rounded inside. I found 0438-60030 but S&H plus custom charge is 100$ and is way above part price.
