CV Axle Help

I recently installed the Icon 2.5 coilover on my 2004 V8 4wd. I set the adjustable coils at the same level a fellow forum member and have very different results. His is a V8 as well and has the same size tires as I do. Can anyone tell me what could be attributed to the difference between the two. The top photo is his truck and the one below is mine. Any suggestions would be greatly apprectiated. Thanks

The level is on a tie rod in the top photo, if that's what you're judging by that's why it's different

That being said, I don't think his angle is much gentler than yours by the picture, that angle on yours will definitely eat the boot eventually, there's an easy fix. You have to buy new clamps for the inner boot and stretch the boots a bit

Hard to tell from a picture, the camera may not be level. Your boot could also have cinched up.

Have you drivin it? Was that pic taken after dropped to ground?

This is with the tire on the ground. I've Drive 200 miles with the lift and the boot has torn. Other members have the same lift and don't seem to be having my problem

Could be a lot of variables working here. For one, the camera angle is different. Then there's: spring rate the same, extended travel vs. non-extended travel, are you running the same armor (skids and sliders), are you running the same batteries, both parking on a level surface, what's the age/mileage difference between the coilovers?

If you're not happy with where they sit, adjust them.

Reboot it and get marine style worm drive clamps. Instead of clamping the boot in the groove on the shaft where it originally was, pull the small end of the inner boot down the shaft, out towards the wheel further so that the convolutes aren't touching anymore and tighten clamp. Make sure the shaft is clean before doing this, looks like you'll have a sticker to remove. With the boot pulled out a bit more it keeps it from rubbing on itself. As long as you don't have CV bind issues you should be fine.

I think my boot is torn in the middle because of how It was compressed. I should've noticed this sooner

I didn't notice the different amount of ribs. That's probably contributing to the problem. Thanks
