CV axle upgrade???

Do they make a CV axle upgrade for 2nd gens? I'm just curious. I may or may not change them this week. Or is OEM replacement from the local parts store the best I can get?

OEM toyota is your best bet.

After that you can get some RCV shafts for $1500

You should be fine with 31s and a limited slip... but still carry a spare.

Edit/ Do you still have ADD Hubs?

The ones from the parts stores are not as strong as the Toyota factory shafts.

After I posted I did do some research. The only upgrade options are WAY overpriced. Might as welldo SAS for that money. Looks like factory shafts it is.

Are you breaking Axle shafts or CV joints ? Shafts are generally pretty good if OEM.

If CV's you can get heat treated CV joints in Australia from Yuri 4wd:Constant Velocity (CV) Joints from Yuri® 4x4. Stateside you possibly need to seek out some of the hardcore rock climbing 4wd shops locally to see who does the same process of heat treating to increase strength. Try emailing Yuri - he may know who does it in the States if you are keen to try stronger ones.

I figured he meant the CV joint portion, that is the weak spot.

Not breaking them,but I had to repalce them (very old, hole in boot). Figured I would ask while replacing anyways.
