CV Axles Advance Auto "Tough One" series??

These cv axles are new, not reman. I have to replace my inner CV boots, but am considering just replacing the axles... I did some research, but didn't find anything on them yet. HAs anyone used these?

I am also considering the CVJ axles, as my 99 is lifted 3", and they offer the longer travel inner boot to compensate for the lift...

Use CVJ since they are reman OEM axles.

Yes, this is a good reason to go this way too... but as stated below, the core charge is a pain, and I would like to have spares as my rig will get wheeled.

Yep, no core charge on the Advance Auto ones... Has anyone used this type from Advance Auto? They are new (not remans).

I will not use any auto parts store CV axles!
The ones that I have seen break have broken too easily and sometimes in the worst spot. I have seen multiple ends snap off inside the front diff. These suck to get out.

Most, if not all, are made from poorly heat treated junk steel.

I will only run OE, OE rebuilts (like ones from CVJ), or Lotus axles.

The Lotus axles have stronger CVs A.D.D. - Lotus Chromoly Axles. - ?96-?02 4Runner and ?95.5-?04 Tacoma - Lotus Development

Then get a reman from a local dealer. Do it right the first time, or just spend more down the road. Either way the money is coming from your pocket, not mine.

He's not bashing you, he's telling you that cheaping out on CV axles will cost you more money and effort in the long run. He's trying to help you.

I've never looked at a parts store brand CV axle that wasn't visibly inferior to OEM. They're fine for driving around town, but if you're using your truck, don't skimp on the axles. Send 'em to CVJ, or buy from Toyota.

I have a CVJ sitting in my garage waiting to be put on, it will be the match to my drivers side once I get the time. Do the CVJ with the Extended boot and don't be cheap. Ship back the one that is busted up and viola! For your "spare" go to the junk yard and pull an OEM one and order the extended reboot kit from CVJ and tada.. see, I can be a problem solver! :jaw drop:

No bashing.
Just the facts. The auto store stuff usually doesn't hold up to wheeling. Some even bind at full droop. Add turning the wheels to that bind and BANG, you are swapping an axle on the trail.

By the way, carry a spare, the tools and the knowledge to change one on the trail.

We're trying to help you not make a mistake that others have made. If you plan on wheeling like you say, and keeping stare. I personally wold just spend the extra money and buy a reman. You'll come to find there are parts that you can get from a parts store, and there are parts you done. Two big parts to stick OEM with are CV's and LBJ's. Wow, sorry, you guys took me too seriously... guess I should have thrown a few smiley faces after my LOL in that post. I have been rock crawling a Jeep for years, and we all "bash" on each other in all of my local forums. I am well versed in Pirate too, have spent years on that site. Its just part of the game. I'll throw a pic of my trailer-only Jeep in my newbie post in the intro thread. I don't think my Toy will ever see the stupid things I have done with my XJ, at least not until its caged, SAS'ed and on 37's...:cheers:

So reman oem's are the way to go huh... How about ones from Autozone??
