Hi, never considered my 90 4 runner a 'classic', have couple 65 Ford pickups which Ford part suppliers describe as classic and punk their customers for the cost for parts. lol
I am a newbe and have a question re: a SR5 90 4 Runner, it just past the 200K mile mark. Describe myself as a 'backyard' mechanic with slightly above average mechanic skills. The presenting issues; recently developed a serious shimmy in the front end, and the CV joints need to be replaced. I thought that since I will be disassembling the front end I would replace the upper and lower ball joints, bushings, etc., imagine counter person would be able to advise what items are required to recondition front suspension. Also, rather than rebuild the front drive shafts I would replace the entire unit, which I assume would include the CV joint, and wonder if any member(s) know of Toyota Part supplier's who sell remanufactured unit and quality replacement parts. Finally, I purchased the front wheel bearings from the dealership, however, concern what may be involved in disassembling the hub, fearful I will end up with series of springs, washers, and spacer won't know what to do with and would appreciate any advice? Thank you!
