I'd love to hear from you guys what your favorite current mods are on your rigs and also what your next mod will be.

Next mod, or next mod I can afford? :lol:
Rock lights / camping lights. I won't be able to do too much more true off roading this year. All of our vacation is now aimed at seeing family. So, weekend camping is on the books with the cooler weather. I have some BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) controlled rock lights I am going to install while I finish my sleeping platform. Looking forward to using those for some quiet Fall camping.

OME suspension install this weekend. I think your combo of the hybrid front bumper, roof rack delete, and hitch gate is on point.

I am getting ready to install a set of new SCS SR8 Polished Bronze this weekend. I have done a few mods but am on the fence as to what else is on the list. I have enough cash for one more budget... Gobi rack, Southern Style Slimline Hybrid or OEM + audio upgrade. Want to spend it on something that is going to give back now

Well the gobi is about 1800(just ordered mine a couple weeks ago). Slimline is what about 700?(just ordered a c4fab lo pro a couple days ago). So you could go audio and a slimline or lo pro fir the cost of a gobi(potentially).
Currently im satisfied with my radio in the 4r so i didnt feel the need for it yet. Anyway you go in sure you will enjoy it though.now i will go back to my corner and patiently wait for gobi or c4fab to ship my junk to me(in 8 to 470 weeks[emoji23] ).

Good call on the Rock lights! I want to do that too but I haven't researched anything what's out there. What kit or parts would you go with? I like the idea of bluetooth control for camp lights.
I was originally going to build a sleeping platform but since I'm picking up a camper trailer this weekend, I'm just going to go for a drawer system that'll hold tools and recovery gear. I think I'll be making my own since I haven't seen anything out there that really suits my taste in terms of size and looks. That's a winter project for sure.
Get your sliders first and wait for a group buy. What are you thinking there?

Nice! I'm a big fan of OME products after having installed OMEs on my old 3rd gen. They make great products. I'm actually still reserving judgement on my ICON coils vs. OME. The ICONs still need to prove themselves over time with loads over a few rough trails before I issue my opinion but I know for sure the OME's are solid. Are you upgrading shocks too?

I love those SR8s! I first saw them on a local mag gray Taco in a gun metal color wrapped in 34s with a sweet lift and it looked amazing. I had to walk up and look up close. Sharp!
Tough decision on your next mod. Are you planning on adding a winch to your SSO? If so, I'd go that route first. You'll have recovery capability for you and others and you'll turn more heads than a rack will. If you're local, would love to help. I've done mine and my twin brother's now so I'm really fast and pro with it. I want to do my audio upgrade too because the system is so weak with any kind of volume but it's like the last thing I'll do after all the off road stuff.
I am curious about - why Gobi? It's fairly heavy and noisy, plus they tend to rust prematurely with frequent use. I do love how they look and the utility of them though. I almost bought one for my 3rd gen but they are so pricey. I'm actually thinking about designing a custom roof rack with some criteria I think are important but not really addressed with the racks out there right now - such as low profile to match the height of OEM rails, aluminum to cut down on weight and rust issues, low drag for reduced wind noise, a way to integrate an LED light bar that sits low and plays into an aerodynamic design for low wind noise, and modular mounting options for accessories like antennas, lights on all 4 sides, awning, etc.

They'll be plenty bright for sure. I saw the exact same lights mounted on a newer PG&E truck, so that was encouraging to see.

New and improved National Luna isolator bracket installed!
I finally got around to installing the new bracket and it works beautifully. Also got the sPOD mounted to the larger bracket and the isolator indicator lights are still visible above the sPOD as planned. Really happy with this location so far.

National Luna controller stealth install in cabin
I found a great place to route the cable and mount the dual battery controller - under the center console lid. Very easy to do and my favorite feature - one button jump start from the aux battery.
I'll only be turning the controller on when I do trips since the lights are always on even without the key in the ignition. I don't drive the 4Runner daily so I don't want the battery to die.

Swell just installed a C4 fab front bumper and now I am not sure what I want but you are right, its the next mod! I love the look and want the recovery when I need it! Going to install the new brushed SCS brushed SR8's in the next couple of days!
As far as roof rack, I just like the look of the Gobi, but I was not aware of the major wind noise and your right, it will be heavy! I don't like the noise or the weight, LOL and the cost!. I love the Prinsu, Front Runner Slimeline II and Eezi-Awn K9, I just don't want to drill my roof!

Well... actually... I am working with a local fabrication company to make some very strong/over-built sliders. Probably won't happen for a few more months, but we will see...
I may be working with them on other armor as well, but that is the first thing we are working on as it is already designed and partially test fitted.
Definitely. OME Nitrochargers all around.

Hood vinyl to prevent light refraction into cabin
I've been intent on laying down flat or matte black vinyl on the hood to prevent light refraction into the cabin. I've seen 2 problems where this occurs: 1) sunlight reflects off the hood scoop at just the right angle and 2) overhead, roof rack mounted LED light bars where the reflection of the lights in the hood weakens the driver's night vision.
I wanted to come up with design that would provide full coverage of the hood from the driver's position but also give it some styling that would flow well with the vehicle. I used the existing angles of the front end and hood, the hood creases and the Toyota truck "T" as inspiration. The "T" is sort of visible at the front of the hood, upside down.
I'm sort of on the fence with the design after having it on but it's functional. I may do some side designs later to provide some protection for pin striping and opening doors. My bad on the low quality photos.
