Thats cool , I was unaware , I beg forgiveness.

Now the Jeep has peaked my interest. Is that available in the GC ? I almost bought one of those in 2004 , I think it was a Laredo Sport. I was not sure so I rented one for a week , it had the 4.0L 6 cyl. but I'm sure it was not a quadradrive it was the other selectable system. I must admit that truck/suv was excellent off road even in stock form. It really impressed me with what we took it through.

QDII is available only on Limited i think or maybe optional on lower trims. Most of the lower trims that i saw do NOT have the QDII system.

The VSC is wonderful but needs an OFF switch or it can be very dangerous if you try pulling out in traffic on a snow covered road.

I agree. I was actually going to start another thread to see if there is a mod to turn it off, similar to the '08's.

My first experience with this was a couple of years ago in my Dad's Audi A4. I was pulling out of a parking lot in Killington, VT in December knowing that the A4 was all wheel drive and had plenty of power. As soon as I get on the gas the car kills power and it takes what seems like an eternity to get moving. Needless to say I almost got rear-ended and could have wrecked my Ol' Man's new Audi. Not cool.

I would be very interested to find out how to turn VSC off without locking the center diff.

I believe you are correct. I had a '97 GC Laredo with SelectTrac which worked like a standard 4x4 system but added a full-time mode that you could use on dry pavement. I traded my '97 GC for a '00 Limited that had the QuadraTrac 4x4 system which was full-time 4x4 but didn't have the limited slip diffs like the QuadraDriveII system.

It's almost impossible to find the Laredo with QT or QDII but almost all of the Limiteds have it.

I'm just not overly impressed with the 3rd generation GC's. Even though I think Jeep makes great 4x4 systems, Chrysler has too much influence on the Jeep brand now and the quality shows. I'm not a Jeep hater now that I have a 4R, but I certainly have no regrets with the purchase of my 4R.

Some people have tried a switch for the VSC off , there are a few threads on it and don't know if anyone ever got it down. I would like to ask the Toy tech about doing it to mine . Like I said The VSC has its purpose , but is more of a danger than an asset in most cases . My wife will NOT drive my 4R in the snow unless the VSC is off and the diff locked. She was almost killed ( T-boned) because if this mindless safety feature designed for people who don't have the know how on driving in bad weather. Nice feature for a very limited use and for the right soccer mom who is afraid of wet roads or snow covered roads. Everyone who has driven my truck in the snow has hated that feature.
