DAC wont activate or light up on cluster panel

Hello all..... ok second post....
Bought a 2005 V8SE
now lets just say i bought it used and now have to make the best of it....
So.... testing out as many things as i can to make sure everything is working, i have come across this problem for now...
the DAC will not activate, nor will it even light up or even flash on the cluster panel. So upon reading as much as i could, lets just make sure i am understanding this right before asking for causes.
pressing the DAC on the middle console, should start the icon on the dash blinking i beleive? if so it does not....
I tried placing it in 4lo, down into lowest gear "L" and still no light......
Sooo,,,,,, i am figuring something is wrong......
What i could find for possible problems anywhere would be: possibly the switch is bad? i also read somewhere that it could be the master cylinder solenoid, but not being that mechanically inclined, would i not notice that else where in the braking system? anyone else have any ideas?
No other lights come on as indicator problems..... so not sure...
also the HAC wont activate either, which is if i presume right again, push the brake pedal down hard for a few seconds, i did as long as 10, and as long as it is in gear D in my case, i should see the skid indicator light come on and hear a buzz...... any help would be much appreciated.

I believe the dac only works in 4lo and possibly only with the center diff locked...I don't really remember. I tried it out once...and it slowly went down the road and i was like whatever then turned it off and kept going. But it has to be in 4lo i remember that much.

I had the same problem, the connector was not connected at the switch. Easy to check, just pull up the console, there is only one connector that will fit.

Yep, before worrying too much just pop the outer console cover and see if it's disconnected. Just open the console lid and gently push a screwdriver in the gap between the console and cover, it pulls up exposing the switches.

Still not working

ok so i pulled the console, popped the switch and i cant really tell if it is working or not, but........ the switch itself was connected, and it did light up (the button or face of the switch not the icon on dash) when the lights were turned on. But thats it. So not too sure where to go from here? figure out how to test if the switch is working or just replace it first and see if that does the problem? I just worry a bit that if that system isnt working, the HAC isnt working, what else might not be working? anything else related to those two programs...... VSC seems to work, center diff does, LO4 does, TRAC control does...... any more ideas good peoples? =]

Have you actually gone out to a steep hill and tried it .. ? keeping your foot off the brake ? Not saying anything but putting it to work to see if if the system is working .. How are you testing it ???

Sorry I can't offer more but my dash light goes on any time the DAC button is pushed.

Your feet have to remain off the brakes after you engage it in 4lo.

Does the light come on the dash when you first place put the ignition key to the on position before starting the engine when all the other lights come on, if not then it could be just a burnt bulb. If its just the light thats burnt, then the system should still work normally so going out and testing it could anwser your question. And I'm pretty sure HAC is always active, it just prevents the wheels from rolling backward when in a fwd gear.

Ok, so it does not light up like the other icons when turning ignition key on.... maybe the light is burnt. Is it common to burn just one light and no others? So i am going to try it and see again. So in neutral, foot on brake, put it into 4LO, press DAC, put it into L or 2,let brake off, let it creep.... will i be able to tell anything if there is no slippage and if not, will snow activate the system to work, and no foot on the brake at anytime at all.... got that... will i notice anything? Ok, how much trouble is it replacing the bulb? nightmare? i was also under the impression that there was another icon that would light up in determining the DAC was working, the Slip indicator light according to the manual should be flashing and the stoplights and highmount stop light lit the entire time.... my wife can help me with that to see if they go on without me braking.... thanks for the assistance people... will let you know if i can get it activated. If not, manual says to see Toyota if the light does not come on.... i can imagine what diagnostics price that might add up too...

thanks to me lovely wife to take the time out of making supper to help me with this. Ok, so the bulb on the dash is burnt. Went down a steep hill close by, wifey outslide watching, but really i could have did it myself in watching the brake lights in the trees.... so when the speed got close to the max, the brake lights lit up on their own and the brakes came on and the slip incon flashed..... it worked! So, thanks good people...... One more thing.. how much of a pain is it to fix that bulb? i know it works which is good enough for me but if its not that hard, i can just add it to the list to do.....
