**** update - new suspension is installed ****

So at first I wasnt going to do this, but I wanted to just share some of my progress, struggles, and goals. I know many others have already done it, but maybe I could encourage others to not surrender to the fear.


Currents Parts List. This is Stage 1. Most of this is sitting in my bedroom. Stage2 and 3 purchases will start depending on overtime availability.

Cleaned and prepped

Primered. cross bar in bed liner

1st round base coat failed. Gotta Love the MD monsoons we had. Please keep in mind I am not a pro. No I don't have a booth to spray in.

After 1st attempt at base coats. Sanded down. cleaned. new spray gun. paint layed down much better I think. 3quarts of paint in total of about 15 coats.

OEM paint code 8S6 to match my truck

Base coats done. clear coats done. 1 quart of clear. yielded 7 coats of clear on the front. I did not clear coat the inside. Since it wont really be exposed to UV. but it did receive primer and base coat to help protect against rust.

Here it is in sunlight. I will be mounting the winch and light bar on it this week and hopefully installing on her. I was hoping the bedliner coating I did on the cross bar would be much deeper black. but as you can see, it has a grey haze about it.

Thank you. I like the C4 fabrication bumpers. I cant wait till next year. I may order the rear dual swing out.

You are not Powder Coating it? In that location you need toughest paint you can get. Save some paint for touch ups. Looking good, though.

I thought about it a lot. But everyone was doing black or white. My T4R is blue so I put almost a gallon of OEM paint on it

I think it will look good. Maybe clear vinyl wrap to protect it. But its not like you just rattle canned it.

Looks good man. I second the clear vinyl wrap suggestion to stop random touch ups from happening

I am actually looking to do the whole truck that way. sent out a few request for quotes yesterday

the only rattle can part was the bedliner spray on the cross bar.

Plastic bumper off. the center bar in front of the radiator needed a little trimming to fit the winch. also needed to move the power steering up a little as well.
