Damaged ABS Wire Codes

This morning my 4runner's ABS, VCS, TRAC etc lights lit up. There was no CEL. My Scangauge could not keep up with the number of codes thrown. It kept counting up by 2 approaching nearly 100.

I pulled over, turned it off, and restarted. No lights. Drove 1/4 mile and they came back on. Again, I pulled over and restarted. This time making it about a mile before they came on.

What is your experience with codes and a damaged ABS speed sensor wire? Do the codes clear with a restart and then reappear after a short drive? I know my ABS wire sheared during the lift install and we spliced/wrapped it over 10k miles ago; however, I think the repair finally failed.

Looks like the scangauge doesn't read ABS relate codes. I'll check for continuity tonight.

You stretched or damaged one of those speed sensors most likely. Do you codes show immediately after starting? Or do they light up after a short drive?

definitely sounds like you stretched or broke a cable or damaged the sensor. had the same thing happen the last time i blew up a CV axle. also if you havent at least try to do a zero point calibration

gotta unplug the sensors before doing anything that could stretch the wire

the guy who put in my front shocks left me with this problem

replaced both wires, kept the connectors (with bulk cable, did not pay crazy money for dealer parts)

Same thing happened to me. Week one of ownership I had a shop install a leveling kit. Swore up and down that they didn't damage the wire. I pulled it to check for continuity and there was none. Spliced in a new section of wire and it has been fine since.

Light up immediately! So how do I fix them?

I replaced my DS ABS wire this morning. I confirmed with a multimeter that one of the wires was torn. I worked on my back and didn't even remove the wheel - it was easy to remove and replace. After I was done, the lights went off within 1000ft of leaving my garage. I then performed a ZPC and I can already tell the TCS is less twitchy.
