It looks nice. But is it controlling HVAC? It appears to have HVAC controls on the screen, but it's on a non-climate controlled 4Runner. If it adds climate control - maybe it would be worth adding. My guess is it's not really doing that.

Also $650 with nothing more than some basic broken English description? Gonna have to do a lot better than that.

I don’t like how the volume and frequency select knobs are so close to the climate control knobs. Overall it’s another android table/radio.

I’ve had my t9 which is the competitior for a few months and it’s pretty awesome once you work around the bugs.

It's too bad one of the major car audio companies (Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc) couldn't make something like that. Heck, or even team up with companies like Dasaita and take what they've done and fine tune it and work the glitches out of it.

it’s hard to say as some people have no issues and some have minor issues. Just depends on how you use it.

Most folks just use it as an android tablet. They use Bluetooth to stream music and make calls. There’s a SIM card slot so you can use data directly on the unit. Or you can hotspot from your phone.

For me, I use it mainly for CarPlay. I’m not after watching movies or surfing the internet while I’m in the car. I just want maps, music and be able to reply to texts while driving.

With CarPlay theres 3 ways to use it. First way is to use the native app called tlink. The t9 has a built in bt/WiFi hardware built in. So out of the box you can start using CarPlay. Second option is to buy and external wireless CarPlay dongle. This will then connect to your USB port and then bt/WiFi to you phone. Lastly, is to buy a barrier Bluetooth dongle.

One of the biggest issues I have and many others is sometimes you get in your truck and t9 is completely unresponsive. No sound activity on the screen. Almost like it’s asleep. To fix it, I just depress the physical reset button on the bottom lower screen. It reboots and it’s all good again.

I like it. It’s the best looking head unit for the 5th gen imho.

I agree the Alpine one doesn't fit well, but I like the floating head units. The problem is their's is more of a 4:3 fit whereas the new Pioneer is 16:9. I cut a piece of paper using the dimensions they provided on crutchfield and it looks like it's going to fill that area almost perfectly. Putting my order together within the next couple weeks so I'll happily be the guinea pig on that one.

I don't trust any other the cheap chinese headunits. Once you start digging into reviews you see alot of negative. Heck, even the paid shill "influencers" have to start their "raving" reviews with "we had to do this, this, this and this, then do this work around for this...."
Forget it. I have yet to see an aftermarket unit that is reasonably priced that works well.

I think the main thing to consider is that the people who have an issue complain. The happy ones just enjoy their stereo. Yes I have seen units that are bad, but it looks like Car Trim Home has been good about replacements.

Another thing is that the T9 is basically an android tablet. So it can be a little complicated to setup or use the apps you want if you are not technologically inclined.

The T9 (and im sure the Dasaita) really is great. The Screen is larger and much higher resolution. The sound is 10x better than OEM, it has a much better EQ, sound delay per channel. I pretty much only use it for my downloaded music and bluetooth podcasts, I get to use Power Amp which is an amazing music app and allows me to use my FLAC files. Google maps is also a million times better than the shitty OEM navigation.

For $450 I dont think you can beat it. I also think it is the best looking option for us. And I like that it keeps the volume knob.

Biggest draw for me are knobs and factory look.

I can deal with some complication in the setup process, but it has to perform like normal on a day-to-day basis.

Hoping these start making their way into the public and that they're decent. I'm an Apple family, but Android 10 is interesting so that it's not already behind-the-times when you first get it (like Android 7.0 or 8.0)

$450? Amazon has it listed at $630. How is the microphone? It looks like you have to route a new microphone rather than use the OEM.
