Dash control for tailgate window stopped working

I have been going nuts to try and figure out why the dash switch stopped working for the tailgate window. I could go down with the remote and up with the key in the tailgate, but nada inside. No motor noise, just silence. Started to think about relays and wiper blade park sensors, etc..

Today I looked real hard. I found that the window lock switch was on. Figured out that the ONLY window that works when this switch is on is the drivers window. It also kills the tailgate window.

That is kinda weird, but such is life.

Whats so weird about it? It's suppose to kill power to all windows that can be operated by passengers.

exactly - how would a passenger operate the rocker switch?
this is taking the lockout a bit too far..

By extending his/her hand out and pushing the switch? It's very easily reachable from the front passenger seat.

Either way 97Black has the simple answer. The button is meant to lock all window which is exactly what it does...pointe finale!

This is just odd japanese logic / engineering.

My Explorer window kill switch killed control at all remote (passenger and rear seat controls) locations, but left all driver's controls active.

If you like the Toyota design, you're an Airbus kind of guy.

If you like the Ford logic, like I do, you're a Boeing kind of guy.

Been there, done that. I was freaking out when it happened, and I was kicking myself about the unneeded stress that it brought by not checking that.

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing. I felt like an idiot.
