Daystar 1” lift questions.

Can someone that has Daystar 1” lift (Part #DAYKT09117BK) confirm that it is a 1” inch spacer and will give you 2” of lift? And if you had it for a while does it compresses over time and give you less lift in the end?
Also, can anyone tell if it is possible to machine this spacer? Let say shave it down to ¾” to have 1.5 lift in the front.

I had this kit installed today. Although I haven't taken any measurements yet, it appears that I got roughly 2" of lift. The truck is leveled out nicely.

The tech that installed the kit said that I shouldn't have any problems with compression, but only time will tell.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the results.

Jason Burtman can get you metal ones from CF. I've been watching this for a while. From what I can tell the "compress over time" thing is more of a hypothetical. I am sure it does happen to some very minor extent. I can't recall anyone complaining they've lost .5" or anything even measurable.

It's basic, high school trig. The attach point of the strut is inboard of the spindle. A 1 inch taller strut translates to about 2" of lift at the wheel.

Do you have rear lifted as well?
Is it a stock size tires?

Yes, I know that CF can do custom size, but it will not be as cheap as $39.99..
Also aluminum will eventually oxidize, so that is another reason why I am looking at Daystar.
 
If you say so. The strut is only lengthened by 1". The upper part of the strut attaches to the upper spring perch which is welded to the chassis....the lower to the lower CA. You can try to calculate whatever hypotenuse you wish, but that spacer will still only increase the distance between the lower ball joint and the chassis by 1".

BTW, Progress, I just recently installed those spacers in the front of my '98 and they netted about 1" of lift.

That's the key right there... The attach point for the strut is well inboard of the lower ball-joint. Lowering the ball-joint 1" would yield approx 1" of net lift. Instead of using the lower ball-joint as the reference point move inboard about 1/3 of the way to the strut attachment point. Lower that by 1" and it'll lower the ball-joint by about 2"...

Well, then excuse my ignorance (I am fairly new to 4Runners and IFS vehicles in general), but they must have changed the lower control arms around after the 3rd generation. Here is a pic from when I installed my 1" spacers:

You can see the lower strut/shock mount and the ball joint....they are only a few inches apart. Not enough, IMO, to double the amount of lift you'd gain from installing a 1" spacer.

I didn't take any before or after measurements on this lift install, but I've been installing lifts for years (as I stated earlier, only on solid front and rear axled vehicles) and it did not appear that I netted more than the 1" I was expecting.

Sorry for giving any confusing info...

Just want to share and answer my own question: DS spacers can be machined, and it is very easy.
I am doing custom lift from DS product it will be 1.5” lift on the front and 1” in the rear. I will post pictures as soon as it is done.

on the 4th gen. the lift is double the thickness of the spacer, do a search, theres tons of threads on the subject. 1 in. thick=2 in. lift, for progress4m-on my last vec. there was only about 1/16 of an in. compress over a 12 year period, ( you can see the dent in an old spacer) so thats nothing, but some coil springs also lose height of about 1/4 in. over the same time frame, so again, nothing to worry about. also, wasnt that DS spacer just slightly more than 1in. most times they are to allow for any settling.
