Daystar 2.5" KT09115BK install, heads up?

I am updating my 4Runner’s (Limited with XREAS) stance this weekend and I want to make sure I have everything needed. I purchases the Daystar 2.5”/1.5” spacer kit (KT09115BK) and I have ordered the BFG Rugged Terrain in 265/70/17 to mount on the stock rims. I am planning to add SpiderTrax wheel spacer later in the summer. The Daystar kit that I have is the 4 piece style (1 spacer per corner).


Is there anything else I need to be aware of? Or am I forgetting something?

You're good to go. Make sure to bookmark some of the install threads for reference if you get stuck along the way. Take measurements and pics before and after. Be safe and double check your work.

I did mine a couple weeks ago and it was a breeze. Just take your time and just be careful with the line feeding the shock. Good luck!!

Did you loosen up the Upper Ball Joint per the Daystar instructions?

I just lowered the lower control arm. You are going to need an alignment anyways so just loosen the two bolts holding the lca to the frame and the two bolts that hold it to the spindle. Remove the 3 bolts too on top of the shock tower. Slowly drop away.

that daystar lift is good stuff i put it on my 3rd gen and its pretty straight forward. mine was a pain due to rust but yours is way cleaner i bet

I did it last weekend, very simple if you do what has been said in the previous posts. Do not try to separate the upper ball joint, that is most definitely the wrong way to do it. I used some 1.25" wheel spacers with 265/70r17 tires and I am trimming the front splash guard away a little at a time untill the rubbing is gone.

The instructions are not the best. I did not remove the front sway bar I just unbolted it and let it rest while connected to the endlinks , I did the LCA method and it worked well I DID NOT disconnect any abs sensors, For the back put the spacer in the top pocket for the rear spring BEFORE you put the spring in, I found it did not fit if it was on the rear spring while trying to install it. Whole thing took 2.5 hrs had no real issues.

not sure how the condition of your car is, but my underside is all rusted and shitty to work with. I just attempted this, and ended up stripping a 6mm allen key nut, on top of the sway bar link, this isn't a job for me. Gluck

A buddy of mine came over to give me a hand while I did the install. I would say it took about 4-5 hours, with temps in the mid 20s. I had to use a propane blow torch melt some of the snow/ice from driving the day before.

On the front, I undid the Upper Ball Joint; it came loose with 4-5 smacks on from a mini sledge. That rear top bolt is a pain, good thing I had a ratcheting wrenches. The rear was a breeze, I dropped the coil out and installed everything and pushed it up in the hole.

Next month, my buddy is installing one on his 4Runner and it should go buy a couple hours quicker (06’ no XREAS, hopefully warmer temps).
