daystar lift - few questions

Yea, that will fit. The 4runner and FJ (07-09) suspensions are fully interchangeable, so it'll fit. Price is good, depends on shipping. It's $144 + shipping at 4WheelParts. Personally, I'd pay $150 max for the install. I can do it in about 3 hours with basic tools. It's pretty easy with only basic tools required. If you have the room to work, you can take that $150 and buy the tools to do it yourself (this is what I'd personally do).

Doing the Daystar still requires taking apart the strut - right? Mainly to throw in the larger bolts? I actually wish they would have stayed with the partial topout/partial preload, but I digress...

So its that easy? You're tempting me to buy the Daystar now with how cheap it is and then be able to scrap my 265/65/17 Maxxis Bravo's with 11k miles on them without feeling bad.. I was planning to save up for Billie 5100's, but everything except for the floaty highway has me tempted..

The days tar 2.5/1.5 fully kit (check the pics) should not require the strut to be taken apart as the bolts just gets extended. A lot easier than taking thr struts apart

Daystar redesigned the kit to include extensions instead of complete bolts, so disassembling the strut is no longer required. With proper preparation, I'd rate it probably a 3 out of 10 difficulty. Add long as you have the toolsits not too bad.

I'm very happy with my 5100s. I've never noticed the floaty feel you speak of. All depends on how many miles are on your stock suspension.

Also, if you buy online thru 4wheelparts.com and choose to PICKUP IN STORE you'll receive a 25% installation coupon. I did this and ended up paying $125 including alignment from them. This is all contingent on your local 4wheelparts actually being a reputable installer with experience with XREAS. If you don't have XREAS should be a lot easier. The 4wheelparts in Portland is one of the better group of guys I've ever worked with, but I've heard horror stories in other parts of the nation.

This is is one of the best/funniest quotes I've seen on T4R.org to date. Quality... lol

But anyway - great advice. I only have two things holding me back now... One is that with going up about a total of 3" (after adding 1" bigger tires will give another .5" in lift), I'd like the suspension to be just a hair stiffer to keep her stable around bends... Which takes me back to Bilstein's and the hard install.

Another is the fact that I added Air Lift 1000 bags in my rear coils, and cut the bump stops accordingly for stock height... So I'm not sure how all that will work with the added 1.5" back there.

Either way, now it's seeming like I might be doing this around the time when company bonus checks come out. (In this economy, I'll be happy to get half the "projected" bonus for the year. But if I get anything even close to half, I think I'll pull the trigger on something this summer.)
