Looking at getting the Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer kit as I've read on here in the past that it's pretty good.

I was then reading some "horror" stories recently of rear shocks topping out, jacked up alignments, needing to buy UCA's to get it to drive right.

I don't want to have to toss good money after bad if this is the case.

1. Are you able to get the caster into spec with the 2.5/1.5 kit installed?

2. Are new UCA's a necessity?

I wouldn't do a spacer kit. Installed one on my 06, and the ride was horrible. Save your money and do a real suspension upgrade, just my .02 cents.

What do yo mean by "the ride was horrible?"

We're you running a top out spacer (daystar) or a preload spacer (toytec)?

If doing a full suspension upgrade, what one do you recommend? I'd like to keep the ride as close to stock as possible. Slightly firmer is ok, but I don't want it to ride like a cattle truck.

I'm mainly looking to improve the look and get rid of the rake. I'll also be doing occasional offroading. Nothing crazy.

If you are just looking for some lift mostly for looks, a spacer lift works fine. I'm guessing your rig is pretty new so the shocks are probably in pretty good shape. We have a 2.5/1.5 Daystar Kit that will work well on your rig. Uses a combination of Top-spacer and Preload spacer. This avoids the issues associated with using all one or the other to get 2.5" of lift.

Or you can look into running some Bilstein 5100 for better performance.

ZJumper, My experience installing kit;

Installed in driveway, pretty easy if you have the tools. Vehicle maintains factory ride...........no change, just sits higher (looks better'er):thumb3:

Alignment - toe and camber were set to factory specs, but caster could only be set to 0 degrees. Not stable at highway speeds!!! Also noticed that when front suspension was fully extended, factory UCA would hit spring and bind upper ball joint.

Installed LR UCA's, no more hitting spring, caster is now set at +4 degrees, truck drives straight as an arrow, love it! For my use the Daystar kit was the way to go ($136 delivered), down the road (when warranty expires), I will install a full suspension kit.
