DayTime Running Lights Disable

I read the Toyotatech article about using a rear window lockout switch. I just want parking or full headlights. If I cut or remove the # 12 Black/yellow wire will this disable the DRL's without causing other lighting problems?

Thats what I thought about dis'n the DRL's. I've done this before on a Cressida we had. If you carefully push back the wiring tang the clip comes right out. Just wanted to see if 4Runners were the same or if shut off or caused some other electrical problem. As long as everything functions normally with the #12 disconnected I'm totally OK with that.
Thanks for any replies. Hary

Be sure to cut the right wire. 2001-2 wiring is different from pre-2001:

See these two threads:

2000 - Pin 2
2001/2 - Pin 12

Regardless of the year, it should be a black wire with yellow stripe.

I didn't need to cut the wire. It comes out of the connnector with a little patience.
Also, we own a 98 Limited and it was the #12 pin.

Old thread but helped me out so attaching a pic of the connector and the wire you cut on 2002 trucks.
