Ddm tuning hid kit....anyone home?

I 2nd TheRetorfitSource. So far, they've been great with answering all my questions, both pre and post order. I'm in the process of sending back the included AMP to D2S connector (w/ 90 deg bend) for the straight one...at no charge. Of course it doesn't hurt that I got a great deal with the TW GB (still going on FYI).
I'm not knocking DDM however as i've had no dealings with them and can definitely see the attraction at that price point. Personally, I just wanted a complete retrofit kit.

I had 3 kits from DDM all were GARBAGE. spend the extra $100 and buy from TheRetroFitSource.com best HID kits not just for the price but the quality is just INSANE!!!! And there customer service is AMAZING the best of any company i have ever called. Truly a great company!

I know you don't have three back ups you were saying you could and it would be cheaper and its not..plus I cant be bothered worrying about if they are going to work today or not. im speaking from experience I bought three kits from them and they went bad within a week. yes they have lifetime warranty but you have to ship back the item to them and that's not free, then you better make sure your diagnosis is correct because they will test what you send to them and if they say its good they will send it back to you and not to mention you wait minimum two weeks for the lights. that's just me, if people are fine with being inconvenienced and sending parts back to them every so often then fine but don't tell me that buying cheaper and being inconvenienced all the time is better than spending the extra buck up front and buying quality and peace of mind. Time is money.....

All you had to do was ask for a shipping label and they gladly send you one, for free. The important thing, from my experience with a warranty claim, is to be clear with it. For example, write that the ballast sometimes will work, sometimes won't. Tell them you tried the ballast on the other side, same thing. With other bulbs, same thing, etc. Because they will just tell you to do this anyway and it saves a lot of time. I keep spare bulbs just for good measure and one spare ballast just in case one of them craps out. And I never find myself worrying if they will work or not either.
I really don't see the difference in quality between different ballasts I've run. I have "high quality" ballasts in my low beams right now and DDMs in the fog lights, both work the same and haven't had a single issue with either.

I guess that's the difference between you and I cant be bothered with the BS of buying cheap equipment so I go for quality

Yes, 5000k flavor. I upgraded to the 50w ballast too. Again, no charge as I had already placed my order...great service.
I know, they are extremely well built. However, I'm always hesitant to push a more expensive, even though it is a the better "deal" in terms of quality and price, as I have the tendency to always "upgrade" to things I don't really need. I wouldn't be on here otherwise right? Ha. Better deal or not, some people are just as happy with the cheaper option. I, on the other hand, wouldn't have been happy with anything less and feel I made the best purchase for my needs.

Is it the mini d2s setup or the mini h1 v6.0? I asked the other day if they were interchangeable as the mini h1 has better output, but never got an answer from them. Guess I could always go by their shop here in atl and ask. They're all super nice guys, just busy. That's to be expected of a good company though.

I don't think that it's fair to generalize about a person based on a few posts in an internet forum. I think that this overly negative and accusatory comment was unnecessary.

It's the D2S. I know what you mean though. I was going to wait for the new H1 6.0s too after hearing how much better they were going to be but go tired of waiting. Now I wish I would've waited.
As for the H1 compatibility with the RetroQuick System, i'm not sure. I don't think it works 100%, otherwise they would include it as an option. I may give them a call tomorrow to find out and pay the difference, if any, and try to switch them out if I can before I install them. Of course that would mean new bulbs too. :doh:

The mini d2s projector isnt that good, sure its better than stock halogen projector, but these dont have the performance of good oem hid projector, i suggest keeping the d2s at 35w, only do 50w with oem bulbs like osram or philips, i tried 50w on the aftermarket bulb and the bowl bubbled, thats when i decide to get warranty and also did a complete makeover with rx projector. My trs ballast and 3000k bulbs is good, but i also decide to stick eith osram bulb, that 66240cbi is just whiter and brighter at 50w, cookieroe got my old bulbs on his civic and it do look better for him.

Thanks for all the input guys, finally got confirmation and yes they ship from china. I guess that's why they charge 24$ shipping! Wish they woulda have informed me it would take 2 weeks before I ordered them!
But as far as quality goes, this is just a small test for me as I was not ready to splurge on the morimoto yet until I get a look at how the ddm will perform in the 06+ projector housing.
The last thing I want is to be one of those douchebags that blind everyone with their blue lights. I love being an inspection technician when people come in with those in their reflector housings! Say bye bye to your inspection sticker

riceandpho: HAHAH, after you told me they look a TAD dim to you, well, I can't get that out of my head. I STILL haven't decided on which bulb to get for my 4Runner (CBI or SVS). I have morimotos 3Fives. (very nice, but not OEM, whatever, that's another issue.....) Not a fan of slight blue as it hinders visibility especially on wet roads (...... personally speaking it sort of annoys me. I used to have a 6000K HID when I had my Surfs, those were really blue. Pretty, but functionally speaking, they sucked). AAArrghhh!! BUT, I do plan on getting either or.
LobstaMobsta: Thanks for recognizing the glare issue. Many ignore that.
Good luck on your set up. There's NOTHING like have HIDs for lights. I have retros. About getting my vehicles inspected, yeah, I grit my teeth expecting them to say something, but so far so good. :thumb:

Do the squirrel finder mod and the glare is no longer an issue. Gives it a nice sharp cutoff. I'm pretty impressed with how well these '06 projectors handle HIDs, especially after the squirrel finder mod.
