I read the squirrel finder mod tread but couldn't make sense of what he bent, and which direction. It appeared to me he had his captions backwards?
Ddm tuning hid kit....anyone home?

Literally all you have to do is take the bulb out, and stick your finger in the hole until you feel something. That will be the metal tab, just push it down slightly. Put the bulb back in and test it, keep pushing it until you have a sharp cutoff. It's a very easy and useful mod

you would still get some glare from halogen projectors, just make sure to reaim the lights, on hid projectors you might see glare, but mostly the color flicker,

I was very concerned about glare into on-coming drivers and after a bunch of research ended up trying the DDM Tuning 35-watt kit with the slim ballast in my stock 06+ projector housings. I have the 4500k bulbs in the low beams and couldn't be happier with the results. I've been side-by-side with BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc vehicles with factory HIDs and have actually noticed sharper cut-off than some of those and very similar light quality. I spent a lot of time getting them aimed to as close to spec as possible and have tested them on the road by driving toward my 4Runner. They look awesome, glare less into on-coming traffic than most cars I see, and are great to drive with. In traffic, when I pull up behind a little car, the cut-off usually sits about 1-2" below the top of the trunk... and it's a noticeable line of light versus dark. Maybe I got lucky!
Here's a picture that I found... it doesn't show the front, but they step up from left to right when I pull up to a wall... a step toward the center of each beam. I know that the high-dollar HID folks are going to say it sucks, but like I said, I was concerned about glare and performance when I tried these and have been extremely happy with my set-up and have actually gotten compliments on them.

I love my DDM kits. I got them for the fogs and headlights. 5 minute install and a much better light put out

I picked one set up yesterday at the DDM store (Huntington Beach). It is 5 min from my house. The guys there were nice and very helpful. I also picked up a LED aux light to add more light for my backup light.
The new ballast kit makes a small "buzzy" sound when you turn on the light on but it does not bother me. The kit is in the engine bay and the sound of the engine is louder than the "buzz" from the ballast.

No complaints about my factory cut off on my oem 08 projectors, this is a Morimoto kit

What bulb did you use in the backups? I got some led backups and they were half as bright as my 912 stock bulb

See the 2 faint rectangles above the cutoff line? This is what the squirrel finder mod is for I believe. Those rectangles appear as glare to oncoming traffic

"Squirrel finder" mod will get rid of those 2 rectangle shadows above your cut off line. It's a quick and easy 30 sec fix on each side.
Just remove the bulb from housing, then look for a metal flap in the top of housing, then reach in with your longest finger and bend the flap forward about 45 degrees; Put the bulb back in to test.

Sorry about my wording on the reverse light. I added an LED aux light on the back of my 4runner. I also replaced the reverse light bulbs but they were not as bright as stock which LobstaMobsta stated above..
My LED aux light rated 2000 lumens.

you guys still using leds in reverse lights? its not even bright, use some hids in them and ull be amaze. remember to reaim the headlight after the hid install, i think the truck is aim a little high from factory.

I wouldn't use HIDs because of the warm up time. By the time the bulb reaches brightness you're done backing up. Unless you have a really long driveway or suck at parallel parking...
