DDM Tuning Saber LED for DRL / High

I called TRS yesterday to get more info on these MORIMOTO 2 STROKE LED's that will become available in about 1 month.
Here are the particulars and photos supplied and they said I could "leak" them.

Will work with Low beam Projectors and DRL/High beams in halogen reflector like our T4R's.
DRL's run at 5 Volts and High Beams run at full Voltage. (don't remember if he told me amps/watts)
They are equipped with fans
3500'ish Lumens
100.00-120.00 retail (without discount)

So these are the leds that my lighting guy mentioned to me... interesting. But I read this entire thread and I think I'm going to wait and get these to try in my high beam lights. I'm still a little fuzzy on why you and others have disabled the drls.. but regardless. I'm excited to see what these moromoto leds can do, and if they compare to the DDM. By then I'll have installed my moromoto kits in my low beams and my fog lights.

Disabling of DRL is personal preference.
I just don't like them, but prefer to run my running lights/parking lights instead. Always have.

I am wondering if the LED's on the Morimoto stems will be 12/6 or 9/3 O'clock position.... I forgot to ask Giovanni.

Added the DDM Tuning high beams to my 4R tonight. Lows are the Xenon Depot LEDs. First impressions are aircraft landing light bright, and that's in the daylight. I'll have a better idea after my 0600 marathon training run tomorrow and will try to get a picture of the horizontal throw on an Oklahoma county road. DRLs are disabled. My low beams are Morimoto 5000K w/ 55Watt ballasts.
You can see the LED High beams totally wash the lows out when on.
The camera see differently than your eye does, they are brighter in real life.

EDIT: The video and photos were taken while no other traffic was present on the road, either in front or behind. So I was able to stop for better capture.

The quality is still not the best as it was taken from an iPhone, but you can get an idea of the distance of lit signage in the far distance in the second photo.

I would, but ultimately, you are the one that must decide. I recommend you give TRS a call and get the pros/cons on each.

Mine have been great. Burning fine and absolutely no damage to the projector lens.

What are your thoughts as for DRLs. I see the hyperflash, but it's not that noticeable. Debating on disabling DRLs though.
Haven't gotten to use high beams yet but plan on testing tonight. So far I'm loving the brightness from what I'm could tell and the color temperature

Ok, so the "hyper flash" is really interesting thing... It's so fast it's almost un catchable to the human eye... It's like one min you catch it out of your preferable vision but when you look dead on its not there...

I honestly like it.

I mean what is the purpose of a DRL? It's so you are noticed and not blended into the world of everything else.

I guess I come at it from a motorcycle rider perspective, we always ride with our highs on durning the day. I'd rather be seen than dead.

So to me the DRL function is awesome with this product

Last thing, if you ever watch any tv new car show... Top Gear ect, you will notice how the camera captures the hyper flash on all new cars with LED. Looks like they are driving a new corvette with strobes ect... So "hyper flash" isn't a "side affect" of this mod. It's the frames per second not matching the intensity or rate of the LED.

Basically the camera can't keep up.

Guys just fyi trs has released the 2 stroke led. I am going to pickup a set this week and let you guys know how it goes.

I bet the 5,000 is combined total of two units... So 2,500 per.

That said the DDM's would be 6,000 combined, 3,000 per.

Just a guess how the marketing dept. is pitching them...

Yep. Math error on their side, they said they will update. This was based on the chat system I used on their website.

Just wanted to give a update I got the 2 stroke led from morimoto and just installed. I thought you can rotate like the ddm leds. But after getting bulbs in, its the same orientation as what you guys figured works best anyways.

I like the color and the drl is nice. It's not too bright or too dim. No my headlight isn't out. Not sure why it's doesn't look on in picture. I love the build quality though. I just need to test how bright the high beam is. The only thing was you have to kind of muscle it for the bulb to fully turn to right position
