Dealer says can't install lift on my 2015 because of Auto Leveling

Dropped off the Trail yesterday morning bright and early (7am) for lift, with the Front 5100's adjustable set at 1.75 and my Cornfed 1" rear spacers. Now they said they could do it a few weeks back, so I ordered the parts.

I called to check on progress about 3pm and service writer said all was good because he hasn't heard any negative. Shortly before 6pm wife gets the call from dealer (I'm at work with their loaner) service writer says they can't do the lift because of the "Auto leveling system", and it will damage the computer and they coat $9000, yes $9000 he says. He state they have something about not lifting with the auto leveling system from Toyota and the they would be responsible for the computer failure if they lift. I called them he gives me the same, talks about leveling for towing and such, I'm dumb founded, I tell him I know nothing of any auto leveling on my 2015, and it wasn't on the invoice. He says he's sorry and I can pick it up in the morning.

I have KDSS, that is different from the 4Gen leveling system option, are they confusing KDSS with the 4gen system leveling? He says they have a bulletin or something that's been out for a while, I sure hope he has it tomorrow.


I'm pissed! Best get some sleep, tomorrow comes early, and off to the dealer at 7am.

Find yourself some reputable Toyota lift shop and just have some other dealer do your Zero Point.

And don't let them charge you for whatever the shit they did today.

I don't think the did anything other than scratch their heads while reading the wrong bulletin.

@OP I believe some good can be gleaned from most everything. Yeah, they wasted some of your time, but look on the bright side; at least those monkeys knew enough stop before they effed up your new 4R. The techs were smarter than the service writer.

I'd be inclined to make them take back the parts, and buy them from whomever ends up with your work.

Understand that most service writers don't know anything about cars.. There was a time when they did, now they are basically salesmen.

I'm sure it is the KDSS that confused the tech. He probably had no idea what it was or how it worked.

I've heard that... it's hilarious..... Unfortunately too many women have NO CLUE when it comes to their vehicles. I taught my friend how to change the spark plugs on her Honda Civic. Another friend was nearly charged $50 in LABOR to change the cabin filter. I took her to Walmart, she bought the filter and I showed her how to do it. She was astounded that they were going to charge her $50 to change it.

I'm interested to hear the outcome of the OP's conversation with the Service Manager at their dealer.

its to set the base point for the traction/stability control and the roll yaw sensor. if you were to lift your truck and not reset it it could lead to the stability system being very touchy and over reactive in normal driving.
