Death Valley - Pleasant Canyon & Butte Valley - April 20-23, 2017 - PICTURE HEAVY

Here's a few shots I took while on the trip.

I drove up Wednesday afternoon after a half day in the office to check out some of the toursity stuff I've never had a chance to see, namely the Badwater area.

Hidden Bridge:


I spend the night at Furnace Creek campground, then headed up to Titus Canyon (after a nice big breakfast in Beatty) Thursday morning. The whole valley was very green.

A 3 hour round trip hike up to Thimble peak.


After Titus, I made a short trip into Mosaic Canyon, but only hiked up a short way. As Marc mentioned, we met up later that afternoon to see everything that Emigrant Road had to offer, and we spent the night in Wildrose campground.

Friday was all about the Pleasant Valley / South Park loop.

Saturday, we headed into Goler Wash and dropped down Mengel Pass into Butte Valley.

The next morning, after splitting up on West Side Road, I made the trip back into the park. I fueled up in Furnace Creek (completing the circle), grabbed lunch at Stovepipe Wells, and headed to the northwest corner of the park for 2 nights.

I couldn't accurately capture the brilliant colors in this cloud from my campsite at the hot springs. Amazing (I blame the burros trying to eat my firewood boxes for the messy campsite)

Great pictures, and so jealous. I can't wait until the weather cools down in the fall and I get to start planning the next trip back.

Awesome write up! Thanks for taking the time, it can be tedious to upload all those photos. Especially liked the clips showing where the landmarks are.

Thanksgiving, hopefully. I was going to try to go during Spring break but I ended up having to work part of it and it's harder for people to get the random weeks off.

Slight correction: The photo of the snow-capped mountain early on (Telescope Peak) isn't actually Telescope Peak- it's called Rogers Peak. I only know this because I hiked the trail to the actual summit once I love that campsite (Mahogany Flats). The views at sunrise were epic.
