Debadged or not Debadged that is the question

My Limited had the gold badges on it. Way too much fake bling for me, it had to go. Only problem is, I couldn't get all of the sticky crap off. I can still see a faint outline of where the badges were. My 4Runner is an '02 and I didn't buy it until 2005. I guess it's better to do it sooner than later.

I'm totally with you on that one. My 99 is a forrest green and the gold just looks tacky. I'm in the process of replacing them with black pearl ones

I had a toyota mr2 94 and debaged it repainted it all black....I had several people ask me what kind of car I owned. I had some ask if it was a lotus or ferrari! )

Mine is partially debadged. Removed the Sport Edition 4WD from the sides. Replaced the Toyota emblem on the rear hatch with a 4WD badge from one of the sides.

in my opinion... debadging the front of a 4R looks bad. the rear.... i like it. just an opinion

I hate that the only V8 badge on the truck is on the front grill. I want one for the tailgate.

^^^ buy the V8 i-force emblem... i think it looks clean with the side debadged that's why i did mine, i'm thinking of doing the back too and taking off the toyota or the 4runner or maybe both

I just used dental floss on a warmer day. Then I just pulled off the goo that was left behind, washed it and waxed those areas where the emblems were.

I just wonder after the car has been sitting in the sun on a hot summer day or using a hair dryer if you couldn't just very slowly pull it away...keeping the goo intact to the emblem. Do you run the risk of snapping the emblem if so?

I would not worry about keeping the goo on the emblem. It comes off of the car very easily.

I have my Silverado debadged, but I'm undecided on the 4Runner....I guess I'll have to ask the wife since it's her SUV....:biggrin2:

You can order the body colored door handles for the Sport Edition and Limited and swap them out. You can probably sell the chrome handles to recover some of the costs to someone who's interested in having chrome handles. They sell chrome handle covers for the 4th gen and what you're selling is the real deal.

There are a handful of people who's done it on the '05+ Tacoma. I would assume the 4Runner handle swap would be no different. Here's the thread for Tacomas. I've seen a few TRD Off-Road package trucks with the color handles, so either they did the swap or they had them painted. Only the TRD Sport package and X-Runner comes with body color handles.

I would like to see some pix of a Debadged rigs. Just to get an idea. I don't think it will look nice in all colors.

It will look tight on Cherry Red, Jet Black, etc. but colors like mine (kinda off whitish) it won't look nice.
