So, my wife has a 2003 Highlander Limited. She loves it, but I think its about time for a new truck for her. She loves my 2010 Limited. And as much as I love my Limited, I do miss having a truck bed. Im thinking of giving her my Limited and getting a 2011 Tacoma Off Road. Ive had a 2006 Tacoma 4x4 before and loved it. Anyone have any advice or gone back and forth? I dont need the room all the time, but have been in plenty of situations where Ive missed my truck bed and have to play Tetris to make things fit in the cargo of my Limited (two dogs, gear, etc.).

Or just maybe she can have my Limited and I can get a TE with a nice roof rack!

I feel you on the truck bed. I'd wait to pull the trigger on a new Tacoma and see what the redesign holds in a year or two.

I would hold off also to see if they redesign the Tacoma. I think the next major redesign was supposed to be the 2012 model, but since they moved manufacturing plants and all that, I do not know if that date changed.

I bought my 2008 Tacoma in January 08' and the next year, the 09's came with all the crap I was wanting in the 08'. Mp3 Aux input, backup camera, darker headlights, LED tails, and etc. Oh yeah and traction control became standard as well.

If you go and buy a Tacoma now, it's essentially your 2006 with some extras.

I miss the bed also, I had the long Bed Double Cab Sport 4x4. Thats why I'm working with Bajarack on the Flat Full Length Utility rack, I can throw lumber, beds, small furniture, etc. I think 300 lbs max while moving is the limit on these 4Runner roofs, regardless of what rack you get. You can put up to 600 lbs when the vehicle is stationary I believe.

Get a Tundra, crappy gas mileage but you will have both plenty of room in the cabin AND more room than you can probably use in the bed!

Looking at your sig, you already had experience with the Tundra. I would suggest that you indeed wait for the next generation Tacoma's. like others stated. If you do go the Tundra route, the new 4.6L engine isn't bad and doesn't sip as much as the 5.7L.
