I recently added the deck plate mod to an Airaid MIT. I was concerned about having a gaping hole in my air box and decided to put a screen in. It was a very simple process.
I took a piece of residential door screen and secured it to the back of my deck plate with a strong rubber band prior to installation. I added some super glue just to ensure the hold. I then installed the deck plate with a bead of sensor safe silicone on both sides to ensure a water tight seal. I finished it off with another bead of the silicone around the outer edge and screw holes. The finished product works well and I am amazed at what I find stuck to the screen. Things like bugs and mud that would have otherwise contributed to gumming up my air filter.
